I am 32weeks and i am going to stick it out until the last couple days depending on how i feel.I have a lot of pressure when i walk but walking is a good exercise for the baby inside and for me. I work in healthcare by the way so im always on my feet.

It depends on how u feel. I'm due today, stopped working last Friday. I stayed as long as I did since wanted to make sure to get paid as long as possible and have health ins deductions from check as long as possible. My cimcompany gives you six weeks 60% on short term disability but 30 days waiting period

Check with your HR person but generally, if you take maternity leave now . . .   what are you going to do after the baby is born?  I had 6 weeks paid leave for a vaginal delivery and 8 weeks for a c section.  You can take up to 12 weeks with the family medical leave act but it is unpaid----  basically, the FML means they have to hold your job for you and continue your benefits.

Now, had I needed to take off work prior to my due date, it would have gone as short term disability at my job (which maternity leave falls under).  You only get 90 days for short term disability.  Any days past that, it turns into long term leave.  They pay you for short term disability but not for long term.  Most companies do that and lots of things change going from short term to long term.

I kept working for as long as I could to keep my off time for after I had the baby as I wanted to be home as much as possible then.

Perhaps you can cut down your hours a bit.  My job was on my feet as well.  I actually thought it was good for me as it kept me active during my pregnancy.  good luck

I feel you I am 36 wks on my feet a lot 40-45 hours a week and I am getting really tired of working. Lots of aches and pains. But I'm trying to tough it out til the end or til I can't stand it anymore so I can have time with baby as long as possiblem

Just remember that typically you only get 6 weeks of leave in the USA. If you take 6 weeks before that leaves nothing left for after birth, unless you use your personal vacation time. You can still take 6 more unpaid weeks through FMLA but that'd be it. Maybe try to not work as hard or as many hours, or take a day or two off every week?
