Oh and it was a firmer mattress as well. I have a conversion crib to toddler then a day bed, then the frame turning into a full size later on. So the mattress will be used for a good amount of time. Up to the day bed I believe.
I got a sealy crib mattress from sears on sale for under 50 dollars. It was originally 100. When I was checking out mattresses I honestly didn't think what type of mattress was a big deal. But I started to feel some of them and some were real soft and some felt kind of like a half deflated air matress and very plasticy if that makes sense and you can feel the coils by slightly putting pressure on the bed. So the mattress I chose felt better in quality as well as something if I had to choose for myself wouldn't mind sleeping on.
My first baby had a serta, a gift. My second was whatever was cheapest at Walmart. They are now 7 & 4, almost 5. The mattresses are still used for toddler beds at my mom's house. There is no disfiguring or cracking or anything yet.
It has to b a firm mattress u can pick one up at Wal-Mart for 38 bucks don't get a soft one cuz they can suffocate.

I don't want to spend a lot of money on it... there is just so many different brands. . I almost bough a Sealy from Wal-Mart yesterday but my boyfriend is being difficult. .
Honestly I don't think anyone needs an expensive one. I have bought the Kolcraft brand from walmart for all my kiddos and they all slept well on it..that's my opinion though!:)
