Oh yeah. Even when the contractions get really painful, it only lasts for s short amount of time. You get more time without pain than with. It's pain with a purpose. Every contraction brings you closer to meeting baby. It's totally worth it. I'm actually excited for labour the second time! :)

For the majority of women, there is no mistaking the contractions of labor. I had my first at 19 and had no idea what a period cramp felt like. Towards the end of my pregnancy I had experienced some mild cramps that felt similar to needing to make a hasty bowel movement. But, ladies, when those contractions started for real labor, I knew exactly what they were. In an odd way, your body will tell you what's going on, even if you have never been through it before. And in case you're afraid of severe and constant pain, it is typically not like that and you get several minutes of rest between 60 second contractions. At least, until you're actually about to give birth!

I'm worried. I've had HORRIBLE period cramps to the point of shaking and vomiting and worst periods ever. I also have IBS so I KNOW very bad diareah cramps. So I'm really not looking forward to this :( I'm so scared.  I'm 39w 4d and last night I started getting period feeling cramps.  Of and on.  They're better when I'm laying down.  Baby is moving good. Had a couple this morning too.

Period cramps can hurt at the front near your pelvis and in your lower back. Diarrhea cramps are higher and not as painful but really uncomfortable. And you have uncontrolled tightening with those. That's the best I can describe it

Curious now too on this topic. Any relation to how bad labour cramps are compared to period cramps? Maybe if one never had those, then labor is easier too?? (Here's hoping haha.)

So what is the difference between period cramps and diarrhea cramps? I've never had period cramps so I have no idea what those are like. I assumed they felt the same.

Having contractions as we speak.....super painful!!! A lot of pressure down there and intense cramping/tightening.

My doctor said your stomach will get super hard like a rock and that you won't be able to talk through them. I've never felt anything though and I'm 38 weeks

I'm on baby #4 and with my last 2 pregnancies I had no idea I was in active labor until arriving at my doctors office. Depends on your pain tolerance

For me it felt like a combination of period cramps and diarrhea cramps. It started small and got stronger and then went away (with each contraction).

It's different for everyone. My mom didn't even feel contractions, she went to the doctor and found out she was in labor. other people have pain from Braxton hicks contractions.
