do i need a breast pump?

Hi I'm a ftm and almost 38 weeks, today I bought a breast pump for like 40 bucks and my mom said I don't need it and will never use it. I will be a stay at home mom and don't intend on leaving my daughter.. should I take it back or does it come in handy?

I just called my insurance company today and they are sending me a brand new double electric Medela pump for free! Covered at 100%.  If ur in the US, u might be able to get yours free, check with ur insurance.

It depends on your supply i always could feed baby 2 oz. Then pump another 4 oz. When i milk first came in. I actually needed it because i would get so full i would leak and be in so much pain if i didn't pump at times but $40 is a good price and you can always try to resell it later used or not because you can buy new attachments for it

I struggled with breastfeeding and my pump was a godsend for while I was trying. The hospital got me to pump between every feed in the first couple of days to help bring my milk in and build supply and then when I was running out of supply I pumped and used it in his formul so he was still getting something from me. I wont breastfeed this time but I found it really helpful with my first.

Sometimes it's nice if you are trying to boost your supply or if the baby isn't gaining weight in the beginning as well you can pump anything left she didn't drink and feed it to her via a syringe or bottle depending on when you do it. I know a lot of mom's that try to make an over supply of milk by pumping for a few.minutes after every feed. But it's not required to nurse.
