I ate everything and my test came back perfect, so it really doesn't matter what you eat...
Good luck! I found out today I failed mine by one point! Boo! :(. I have to take the fasting 2 hr one on Thursday. Not looking forward to it.
I understand all that, that's why I'm.confused that I wasnt given any limitations food wise except the 2 hour fast.. thanks for all the input ladies, I'm just hoping a three hour isn't in my future :/
The test is not to see how your body handles your normal diet. It's to see how it handles the drink. Say the drink has 40mg of sugar and the test results were based on getting a score of 8-10 for 40mg. If you're body is processing 100mg of sugar because you had a latte, you've just thrown off the results. The score would then need to be adjusted to what they mark as "normal". Since they can't control and measure intake before, that's why so many say to fast. It's controlling variables for more accurate results.
Doctor's give different instructions. My ob office said eat whatever but the hospital said to fast...both for the same test. There is no way to 'beat' the glucose test though. Even if one passes due to fasting, fetal weight gain and physical symptoms will catch GD if it's there. Also, GD can show up at anytime so testing at specific weeks is purely precautionary and not a good indicator that one who passes will not develop GD.
