drinking and breastfeeding.

I was wondering how long I would wait to breastfeed my child again after a night out. This consist of 4 beers and 4 different kind of shots. But the end of the night I ate popcorn to prevent a hangover. So how long should I wait to breastfeed the baby again?

I've read that pumping and dumping is of no use because the alcohol will leave your milk when it leaves your blood stream... LA Leche league still recomends it the last time I checked, not sure which is correct. I also read that the amount that does get into your milk is so tiny that the baby getting drunk or feeling it at all isn't the concern, it's the babies liver that is the concern.

I would test your milk because some of us process alcohol at different rates then others which means that you could be clean faster or slower then they suggest.

Either get the testing strip or pump and dump for a day or so. Good for you getting out and being something other than a mom for a night!  You deserve it:)

Didn't know the testing strips existed,  that's definitely better than pumping and dumping all day.

Can't find anything about eight drinks. Read you should wait about 14 hours after five drinks, so a full day...?

Hopefully you are stocked up for 24 hrs. Pump and dump for a day. Consult a lactation consultant for accuracy.
