I've had two babies and no epidural. My second was completely drug free. I found that as long as you're not anxious and tense, contractions are not unmanageable. If you are scared of them, probably better to get an epidural.

I had an epidural with my first pregnancy and had no problems. Getting poked with the huge needle sucked but I literally slept the entire labor after that point until it was almost time to push. I was able to feel the need to push and only ended up pushing for about 10 minutes. I'll be doing it again with this pregnancy.

I don't know any other way. I've never had any bad side effects that some women can get. You obviously don't feel any pain which is the pint and a huge bonus but you are also confined to your bed from the time you get it until it wears off aftwr delivery which for me was just a few hours. It wasn't a huge deal since I wasn't out running a marathon or anything immediately after. It made me take the rest I needed. It's obviously a pesos all choice but I recommend it. :)

I went naturally my first time and plan to again.  As much as it hurt, i felt every second of my little girl coming into the world. That being said i have a high pain tolerance so my mind might be different if i didnt handle pain well.

I've had 2 natural births with no pain relief and I've had 1 birth with a self controlled epidural, which is basically much smaller doses of it and you press a button when you need it. So each push of the button only last about an hour but once I had bub I was able to get up and walk around and have a shower fairly quickly. I had a great experience with it and I will most likely request a self controlled epidural again this time around

I personally don't want another epidural.  When I had mine I was exhausted and needed unfortunately I ended up with a severe uti. My 2nd baby I went into denial I was in labour had our boy in 6 hrs from start to finish recovery 10 times quicker 2nd time around.  Im aiming for denial again this time.

I've had an epidural 3 times. The first time it helped with contractions, but when it came time for delivery I felt all the pain of pushing my baby out. The next 2 times they worked well. No pain. I was able to feel pressure when I needed to push, but no pain. I would definitely get it again.

I have had two and they were both positive experiences. I was able to enjoy the anticipation of being about to meet my baby and the moment of delivery. I was fine with not feeling pushing lol. I healed quickly both times and was out and about the same week even with a few stitches. I did have some lower back pain  for a day or two from where the needle went in, but I would take it any day over the crazy intense pain of labor. Of course it differs for everyone but I would recommend it!

In most cases I've heard they're great...but they can get botched like mine was...he end up jabbing me in the bone 4 times before getting it in, while everyone in the room was yelling at me to hold still (which is not easy to do when your getting a huge needle rammed into bone)...I then got lectured by a nurse that I should be feeling pressure not pain, I then told her through tears that I knew the difference and I was in PAIN (worse then the contractions at that point)...after all that it didn't even work,I ended up feeling everything...by the time they realized more drugs had no effect I was already at 8 cm and the contractions were too strong and frequent that I couldn't hold still long enough for them to redo it...he later told me that I had thick tendons and he couldn't "feel" anything...he was probably just bad at epidurals but I am now terrified to get another one

I had my first with an epidural and second without. I honestly enjoyed labor without better then with it. Yes it took the pain away but I really couldnt tell if I was pushing or not and healed a lot slower. It does vary for each person. I know I wont be getting one with this baby. I liked being able to get up and move around afterwards and feeling more alert and it really does depend on your pain tolerance.

Epidurals are a God send if you ask me. One minute I'm in excruciating pain from contractions, and the next I was like "What contraction?" Lol.. I would definitely recommend to any woman to have one. Makes the whole experience much more bearable and actually enjoyable.

It was worth it for me... The pain of the contractions make the epidural feel like nothing, and once it kicked in I was in heaven compares to how it felt before... I have two kids and had an epidural with both. Now I'm 37 weeks with my 3rd and I'll be getting another one lol
