excessive weight gain

I'm 26 weeks and have gained about 45 lbs...I don't know why...I may not be the heathliest eater but I don't over eat or eat junk all day. Before getting   pregnant I was slightly over weight but nothing alarming...any one else gaining too much weight??

Bambino I'm sure you still look great - I know it's just discouraging and depressing for your body to feel so different from before pregnancy, that's how I feel anyway - and right after I wrote in earlier I hulk ripped out of my maternity pants I was trying to get into! I know it's normal to be worried about losing the weight and the struggle after having our little ones, but I have faith that we will lose the weight ( sooner or later lol! ) I think there will be some reassurance once the baby is born and you have your body back to yourself and see it changing back to somewhat normal. Just think you will prob drop 20 lbs after delivery, water weight, feeding, ect. I'm trying to think that anyway so I don't feel so bad or discouraged,  it will all be worth it right?

Mason - it's so comforting to hear a similar story. I was only about 10 lbs overweight when I got pregnant but have put on 60 lbs. It's been so hard on me emotionally and I feel for Mothers that go through this struggle. Elle - it's a relief to hear your story also. I hope I drop this weight quickly.
Hang in there Mason, you're so close to the end. I'm sure you look great and no one else sees your weight the same way you do. (I pray that's how I'm viewed also)

Well BambinoMiracle i know exactly how you feel, I started out at 125 and im 5'6 I was really thin and now - well I'm huge. My eating habits didn't really change andn I walk and exercise but I still packed on the pounds every week and I have no idea how!  I have stayed really swollen throughout my entire pregnancy and my boobs are even more huge now so I know thats a bit of it, but my blood pressure has been good and no GD !?! I'm 38 weeks 6 days and weigh 205! I don't look unhealthy and baby is big but it's still depressing! I feel like a beached whale but my Dr. Says i'm healthy and some women just gain a lot. :/

Could be water weight and combo of too many calories a day. A pregnant person only needs about 200 extra calories about day, if that. If you already started out a lil heavier, then you don't need as many extra calories.

Your baby will take what it needs from your body and your body will sustain, especially if you already have a little extra weight,  and of course prenatals help add nutrients to your body for you.

I have gained a ton while eating normal and working out through entire pregnancy. I was so swollen for months and a week after i gave birth(now 2 weeks ago via c section) i am down over 25 lbs and i am eating often for breastfeeding. I noticed any my swelling was less and i weighed myself, id be down 4 more lbs.

I'm in the same exact boat and have posted about my concerns also. I've always been the one to bring it up to my doctors and express my concerns. No matter what I ate or how much I exercised I still am excessively putting on mass amounts of weight. It's so hard on you mentally and physically so I feel for you girl. You're not alone and the struggle is real. I tested negative for GD and other possible health reasons that could be affecting my weight. I am almost 35 weeks and too embarrassed to even say how much weight I've gained. Just know that if you're healthy and so is your baby that this is temporary and this too shall pass. :)

I gained over 50 pounds with my daughter, and only 18 with my son. So, don't worry too much about your weight. I walk about 1-2 miles a day to try and keep my weight down. Good luck :-)
