fear of the flu

I have a history of inner ear infections. Now, my tonsils are swollen and im having trouble swallowing properly, needless to say its painful.  I called my Dr and she said I need to rest and drink lots of fluids. Im 15 weeks, 1st pregnancy and extremely nervous. Has anyone experienced something similar? What to take without harming the baby. My fear is this turning into full blown flu. My mother recently passed away, she always had an answer for me,  im in need of help and  will be switching OB's. Please advise

I would get checked by a doctor to make sure it's viral and not strep or any other bacterial infection thay requires antibiotics. Strep is common in the winter and you want to be sure you don't have an ongoing untreated bacterial infection of any kind while pregnant. I wouldn't freak out either way because everything will turn out fine but make sure It's viral and Don't just assume! Good luck!

I got a horrible cold around then and all I could take was Tylenol and cepocol cough drops and I'm almost 35 weeks now with a healthy baby girl.  I actually just woke up an hour ago with a sore throat and stuffy nose. If you end up spiking a fever I would go to the hospital other then that I think you'll be alright
