fear!!!

I no its bad to think like this am only 31 weeks am really small but measuring normal i.worry about something happening to the baby during water  birth ive been reading and hearing stories of infections and baby swallowing water or pooping or stress or imbilicord being around his neck...i dont trust my midwife but shes the only one who does water birth in my area she dosent really check me at all am really thinking about giving birth at a hospital just incase but i really wanted to try something new am i being selfish to want a water birth? do i want to risk the odds of putting my baby in the hands of a midwife who does not have advance technology if something happens? Am lost i ask my husband for advise but all i get is do what u think is right...i dont no what yo think am just scared...i no its too early but my time is ticking...i feel like am not ready for this instead of feeling excited i feel sad and scared...something that i never felt before for neither of my kids yes i do pray but for some reason when i get pregnant with people i no my child dies.what are the odds of me having a still born.and watch everyone else have their babies i no this is a long rant i feel safe talking to moms here then to people i no and think am  crazii or over thinking this...

I was planning a water birth too but my hospital just got rid of the room a few weeks ago. Grrrrrrr! About the umbilical cord, it will most definitely be wrapped around the babies neck, but the beauty of a water birth is your care take will unwrapp it before you baby is brought out of the water to take its first breath (usually before you've fully delivered his/her whole body) its a lot more slower process then a bed birth, meaning its more laid back when it comes to pushing smd delivering. Water births are great, and provide less stress for you And your baby naturally. Im really bummed I won't be able to have one :( but not trusting your midwife is not good, with any type of birth, a great support system is key I think. Best of luck to you. Try not to stress and you are not selfish at all!

Water birth sounds nice and I know people who have done it and had a great experience.   Personally,  I wouldn't feel safe delivering outside a hospital.   I want to make sure that if something was to go wrong that help is available immediately.   If you don't feel comfortable,  go with your gut.
