first appointment

I was just wondering when people usually have their first midwife appointment? My surgery is really disorganised and they're booking my first appointment when I'll be 13 weeks, I'm currently 6 weeks. With my first child I'm sure I had my first appointment at 6 to 8 weeks. 13 weeks seems too far to me when I should be having a 12 week scan??

Thanks everyone,  it just feels like I'll be missing out if I don't have my first appointment until 14 weeks (worked it out wrong before) surely you have to have an appointment in your first trimester?

(also, my midwife only does one scan at 20 weeks. I requested the one at 13)

I had my first midwife appointment at 12 weeks.  My first scan was at 13+6.

Is there a reason you want it other than curiousity and such? I'd say let the doctors figure out how it goes. Idk how midwives work but talk to your doc and tell them you've been stressing and can't sleep over the fact that its going to be so long for you to get a scan and most of the time they will get you your scan to make you're at ease bc its obviously not good to stress.

No its a different surgery as my first as I moved area. They just don't seem interested so wondered if there was a timescale when I should have my first appointment.  Just seems like I'll be missing out on the early stages of pregnancy such as 12 week scan, heartbeat etc

If you don't mind me asking what's the surgery you are having? Typically doctors have you sched your first apt around 8 weeks and others around 12. There's no real set way to do it, its just up to your doctor. Do you have the same doctor as with your first pregnancy?
