My first pregnancy I decided no flu shot and caught the flu. It was terrible I felt like death and I had it 2 weeks! My second pregnancy wasn't during flu peak season so my doctor didn't recommend. This pregnancy I work in the medical field around alot of sick people so I decided to get it. After my first experience I never want to go through that again, it was scary and the doc told me I could have went into pre term labor. I would rather be safe than sorry. God is protecting these babies. The choice is yours just sharing my personal story.

Had flu shot. Going to get whooping cough shot.
Both hubby and I.
Our child will have all recommended vaccines too.

To me this is so obviously the right thing to do.

Good health to you all.

I have had both my Tdap and my flu shot. I'm a nurse so I get a flu shot every year for work and I'll be making sure my husband and family has theirs as well.

I'm getting the tdap on Friday. They haven't said anything about the flu shot but I had one earlier in the year I think. I don't mind it at all, every bit counts, you know? The flu is no joke & I wouldn't want my little one catching it. Ew.

Everybody is this household is getting one whether they want it or not!!!! I just got mine Tuesday at my ob appt. It was the first thing the NP asked when she came in. She said the shot is fine but DO NOT have the nose spray kind while pregnant. Theres just too much junk going around!!

I think I have decided on no flu shot and yes to the whooping cough shot. I am going to see my high risk dr. Before i go back to my ob and I will ask her opinion also. I just have never had a flu shot, I dont know how am going to react to it.  My friend got it and had never had it before and she got a bad reaction her arm got swollen and she couldn't even lift it above her head. I am unsure about the flu shot.  But, thank you so much ladies, you've help me alot♡

I'm not getting either. It isn't  necessary. I have two children and it wasn't even mentioned then. My sister just had a little girl and is  in the military and neither were encouraged. I have done my own research and there is no study that shows that either vaccine even  crosses the placenta . Every mom is entitled to make decisions that work for them. Do what works for you.

I have never gotten the flu shot so I plan not to. I will get the tdap shot after I give birth. She can get my protected antibodies from my breast milk instead fron the actual shot.

I just did my flu shot and I'm going to be honest the day I got it I kinda felt a little weak and maybe ran a low fever. It only lasted a day and I was fine the next morning. I am a hair dresser so I'm around people all winter and hate to say it moms bring there kids in w the flu or strep every year! Stupid right!?! So I'm all about feeling like crap for one day then having the flu for a week! The wooping cough is next apt! Vaccines only protect you and your babies from bad illnesses my baby girl will have all her shots with out a doudt!!

I have decided to get the whooping cough shot for sure. But still unsure, about the flu shot going to do a little more research on it. Thank you so much♡♡

I was very back and forth about getting my flu shot....I have never gotten one before and I have never had the flu so I didn't see why it was necessary. Monday at my appointment the nurse brought it up.....I talked to my doctor about it and she of course told me it was better to get it. I did. And then in 3 weeks at my next appointment I am going to get my tdap shot. My bf will be getting one here soon as we'll. the tdap is more so for baby then it is for us. I gave into the flu shot....lol but it's up too you. I'm sure if you talk to your doctor I'm sure he/she would tell you to get it but it is ultimately up to you momma!!

Your baby can die from whooping cough. The shots you get during pregnancy protect your child until it's old enough to get it's own vaccinations. It's never smart to not vaccinate a child, all these people so against it probably got all their vaccinations as children so denying their children a healthy life is quite ridiculous since they were given that. It's selfish. Please vaccinate your children don't start what could be an out break because of what you think, you are not a doctor!!! Just vaccinate yourself and baby when the time comes better safe than sorry!!!!!!

Nah, no flu shot for me. It makes no sense to me. As far as I know vaccines are created with the virus from last flu season and every season it's a new thread of virus so nope.

Whooping cough, definitely!!!! Already got it and I'm gonna make my husband get it. Babies are very susceptible to it. There's been quite a few babies that have died in CA because of it. I'm not taking any chances. YouTube whooping cough and you'll see a video of this baby ccoughing her heart out. It's as if they stop breathing for a second. Pretty scary.

I would recommend getting it. I've had mine. I saw the damage first hand of what flu can do to somebody. My mum ended up on life support earlier this year due to having flu. She was ventilated for 13 days and then had cpap for another 4 days before she was able to breath on her own my mum is only 41 I would recommend anything to prevent getting any strand of flu. I would recommend getting any vaccine that is offered to you and your baby. As often having the disease is a worse alternative to having a few side effects

See the problem here is done of you don't realize that its not really just about you! Its about the baby by you getting these vaccines that is the only thing protecting your baby after its born as it cannot get these vaccines as an infant, us being then is what gives them the immunity to these illnesses that can be fatal to newborns. Just bc your healthy didn't mean baby won't/cant get sick after birth. But this is obviously a very personal choice so I don't freak out on ppl who don't get vaccinated. My three year old old has never had a flu shot. My husband never has I've had one my whole live lol im not a vaccine freak but they do have their purpose and times when I feel are necessary. And like someone else said ppl don't actually get the flu from the shot lol it's not possible just again like another said only protects against a few strains that are thought to hit that particular year. So didn't unfortunately mean your 100% protected just better chance. And until someone says there's hard evidence that vaccines are bad during pregnancy (bc some are, they don't think all of them are safe) but done are such as flu and dtap and I believe benefits outweigh risks on dtap esp. Flu shot im border line lol

The problem with not getting vaccines is that you're putting your infant or other peoples' young children at risk. Their immune systems aren't strong yet, and yes some get lucky, but if children continue to not be vaccinated they're going to be less lucky. Your older unvaccinated children (or like in this case, you and Daddy) can carry an infection right to your newborn without even knowing. Whopping cough can kill! It killed many many people 100's of years ago before there was a vaccine developed.
