flu shot??

Is the flu shot necessary while pregnant? I haven't gotten a flu shot in about 10 years ... I'm 28 and am about 9 1/2 weeks.... doc is saying get it but I don't think I want to! What do you think? My first ultrasound apt is Friday and they want to give me shot that day :/

You're just going to have to weigh your own risks and decide for yourself. You'll get all sorts of yes's and no's on here with all sorts of reasons. I did not get it with my first two. I'm a stay at home mom and didn't have a high exposure risk. I'm also a very healthy person who rarely gets sick. With my third I was pregnant during the summer so it wasn't an issue. With this pregnancy my oldest two are in school and constantly bringing home germs so I chose to get it. I'm glad I did bc the flu is already making the rounds at their school and it can be serious to get the flu while pregnant so its given me a little peace of mind.

Be wary of flu shots though. I had my father in hospital for weeks. They thought he had a heart attack then after days thought it was some neurological disease. Turned out they injected the flu shot right into his nerve which fast tracked the virus (or whatever it is) right to his nervous system. However if you get the ones where it kinda gets blasted through the skin instead of a needle.. im sure its perfectly safe. Wow. Sorry for the long novel!

Yes. Get your flu shot because you would be considered high risk for the flu if not due to you being pregnant. Pregnant women are more likely to get sick faster than a woman that is not.
