I'm a nurse and get my flu shot every year for work (I work with children who love to share germs) and will be getting it this year also especially since I'm pregnant. Many people worry that the flu shot will make you sick, but it doesn't. It's a dead virus and not biologically possible. However people forget that flu shots are given in the fall/winter, so usually when you go into your Dr or pharmacy to get the shot you are being exposed to all the lovely illnesses the people around you have. The flu shot is to protect you while your pregnant and help protect baby after he/she is born, so it's also advised that anyone else living with baby gets the flu shot too.

I declined also, however my doctor came in and talked to me about my weakened immune system being pregnant and the fact that my baby is due in November( the height of flu season) and that i would be protecting myself and her, I reluctantly got the shot. It was mh first time ever receiving one. She warned me I might feel a little drained or a fir a couple days however I've been fine besides a really sore arm.

Health professionals are always adamant that the flu shot can't make you sick but i was unwell for about a week after it - took it for 10 years straight due to the nature of my job. I understand though that i was preventing an actual flu which can get pretty damn serious.

I am a bit hesitant about the flu shot. There are so many different strains of the virus and your vac doesn't always cover them all. I didn't get mine this winter because my dr told me it's not yet updated for this year in nz. I'm trying to be supe2 careful with hand hygiene and when possible avoid sick people. I am considering taking one before next winter though to help protect my baby. Here in New Zealand flu is included in standard vac programmes for new babies.

I used to work at a flu clinic, I would advise getting the flu shot annually. Esp when u are pregnant, you dont want to get sick..and where im from anyone who doesn't get vaccinated gets sick with flu.lol ;) The standard flu shot we give is completely pregnancy safe, and they have a special one for mommy's with egg allergies as well.

I never get flu shots even when I'm pregnant and I never get the flu. I don't do vaccines either.

Due to our immune systems being weaker when pregnant, its highly recommended that we get them. That being said, I do not believe in the flu shot, have not got one since I was old enough to make my own decision about it. I'm 33 weeks and kindly declined at my last appointment. But its a personal choice. I practice good hygiene and proper diet to help combat the virus. Best of luck :)
