flu shot

I am almost 37 weeks pregnant and my midwife told me that they only recommend the flu shot between 27 and 36 weeks and that I was too far. Anyone else ever hear of this?? I have read the cdc website and it says that they recommend it at any stage during pregnancy and that it can even be benificial for baby for the first 6 months. I wany to protect my baby! Just curious what others have heard and if anyone else had flu shot late in pregnancy.

It's ok, jaloveslorelai, I'm not a fan of the flu shot either... but it's pretty easy to be bullied so usually I say nothing... really affected me badly the one time I got one, so not taking any chances while pregnant...

So on baby center... all these haughty mom's started bullying me Bc i dont think it's a good idea...lol, they were all older women too who in theory should "know better" than to post catty memes and attack with mockery rather than fact.. so please be nice. The safety inserts state that they only be given to pregnant women if neccesary. They have not been tested on fetal effect or development. It is illegal to sue the pharmeceutical manufacturer of the vaccine for any damage it may do to a child. I've seen videos of the cdc and the government supporting things that hurt us in courts and in pentagon videos. I don't care to expose my baby to mercury or a dead or weakened virus. But many people do and seem just fine. I truly beleive midwife have our be at interest at heart.

As a nurse I've never heard of that with the flu shot. I do know that is the recommended time frame for the TDAP vaccine.

You can get the flu shot at any stage in pregnancy. It takes 2 weeks to build up all the antibodies, but even if you don't fully pass antibodies onto baby you are still helping to keep the flu out of your house.
