I had the same problem with my 3 girls and we changed formula and they were fine. Maybe lactose...
Some babies are picky about not eating while laying down.
Dont know why this wasn't mentioned sooner but sounds like colic! My daughter had it just talk to the dr, may have to switch formula.
My son has to drank some white stuff and they did x rays and a u/s to see how far it went down till he threw up. It's not painful
Acid reflex get him to the Dr quick it's painful

@Bholcomb is right....when my daughter was doing that and hubby and I had switched bottles and tried gas medicine, it turned out that my daughter had acid reflux and was prescribed liquid zantac that worked wonders immediately. Definitely call the pediatrician.

I'd agree with the acid reflux possibility. Be good to get the baby checked out. Try different feeding positions too.
Might need to get him into his dr. He might has acid reflux my kids did and they cried alot.
