Thank u ladies. I really appreciate your feedback. I did not with my first but I have a different Dr this time who is newer so she wants to inform me and not persuade me either way.

The way I looked at is that I wouldn't terminate if the testing revealed something, but I'd be certain to be stressed if I knew ahead of time. Some people like to be prepared though so I could see that. I'm just going to take what God has given me and trust that we can handle it. It's a very personal choice though. Good luck :)

We had decided to do it from the beginning, since we are both young (25) and are in good health we didn't think there would be a huge change, but my Fiance's parents are both dead we decided we should do it to make sure everything would be okay since we do not have a lot of knowledge of his side of the family. We did the 12 week ultra sound and blood tests. It was extremely easy, you even get to see the baby again which was exciting! Once that was done they called us about a week later to give us results. After this we had one more blood test at 16 weeks (all of these screened for Downs, Spina Bifida, any other birth defect etc.) and once again we were called about a week later regarding the results. We tested on the most negative side for anything being wrong with the baby (just like we assumed) but knowing early and putting it at ease helped so much.

P.S For us the testing was so we can be prepared because raising a sick or handicap baby is rather difficult and it will give you time to prepare. The genetic counselor will go over and profile you and how high of a risk you actually are.

I was 34 when I got pregnant but will be 35 at delivery so it was recomended to me.  We decided to have the blood test called maternit21 which is a newer, better test which detects chromosome abnormalties suchs as downs. We also had a two ultra sounds that checked for other things wrong suchs as downs, club foot and spinal isssues etc.  We also did an additional blood test which detects over 100 rare diseases. All these test habe to be done at certain times during uour pregnancy, so i would think it over and decided promptly.  We decided NOT to do the amniocentesis, or the cvs testing (similar to amnio) because we felt it was unnecessary since our other tests were normal.  It really is a relief to know ahead of time as to what to expect.  Another reason we decided against the amnio and cvs is it can be dangerous and cause a miscarriage. We decided that only of ot was absolutely necessary we would undergo those test.  Good luck!

I never did it personally. I honestly don't know anyone that has. I figure I can't change it. But if your doctor thinks you should or you have history I'd say do it
