If your lucky enough that your contractions start out easy, like mine did, you can definitely throw on a little mascara, thats all I wear. And I just threw my hair up in a cute bun. If your getting an epidural you dont have to worry so much about being sweaty and such. I have to say everyone was complementing me on how good I looked afterwards, and in the pictures when she was placed on my chest. After that though I didnt bother at the hospital, I was too tired and focused on baby, even though I had planned on it.
Definitely getting showered before I get to the hospital and putting some makeup on. Waterproof mascara, lip gloss, a little concealer, and a little powder. I'm not gonna be super model done up but I wanna look cute.
Definitely showering fixing my hair and putting on some mascara and concealer so I don't look like a tired hot mess! I am lucky enough to have a sister that does hair and nails so I have been getting my nails and toes shellaced every two weeks and fresh color every 6 to make me feel better.
I think you should do whatever makes you feel the best! Labour is an uncomfortable enough process to go through and I know I myself don't feel comfortable with out at least some mascara especially around people. So yes I'm going to try to apply at least a little makeup just to make myself feel better. Don't really care if anyone thinks I'm silly for that or not. It's about me n what makes me feel the best.
Whatever makes you feel better. I plan on putting on some face powder to help with the sweat, a little blush, lip balm, and curling my lashes. :)
I'll probably have my hubby French braid my hair, and I'll probably wear water proof mascara and eye liner, (to cover my lazy eye that always looks closed) lol
I will be putting on some waterproof mascara and some under eye concealer for sure. And hopefully my hair will look halfway decent. I look at pics of me right after I had my son ten years ago and I look like a zombie! I know I'm not going to look like a supermodel this time either but id like to try not to frighten anybody lol
Yeah I was not all sweaty with my first..but a lol make up Wil be done & probably make the pain more of excitement.cuz when you getting ready for something exciting feels so much better..it's like getting ready for the best day of your life!
Lmao i thought i was the only one worried about this. I personally dont mind the natural look but i do have dark circles around my eyes and there not so cute so a little concealer and eyeliner won't be much lol. Everyone has a right to do whatever they want and a right to there opinions lol so for those who want make up, have fun. For those who dont want to waste there time on it, have fun too either way you'll forget once you see that little miracle :) congrats ladies
Totally agree with you @ geekmom1213 but for ladies that feel they need make up whatever makes you comfortable or feel better about yourself. My best friend had her hair and make up done with hers. But me personally I think a mom looks beautiful after hard work of giving birth. :)
I thought I was the only one thinking about making sure I didnt look a hot mess! Lol I have been told though to wait until afterward to go put on makeup but I don't know how I feel about that...we will see.
I don't need to put makeup on to feel good. I don't need makeup on to get my picture taken. In one of the most exhilarating and amazing moments of my life, the birth of my son, I saw no need to distract myself from focusing on my contractions and my breathing to paint my face or my nails. When a photographer came to do newborn and family shots a couple of days later, I was so blissed out by everything that was going on I didn't even think to button up my flannel pajama top until halfway through the session - I certainly hadn't found time to "beautify" while learning to breastfeed. I shared those pictures with everyone I know - I didn't look like "total crap" I looked like myself - a little tired, but happier than I'd ever been. They are beautiful. I can't figure why women are ashamed to show others what they actually look like.
To each their own, if you feel good that's the important thing. I don't need loads of makeup to feel good personally. Raw life doesn't need a filter.
I took my time and got ready. Hair and makeup. Do what you want and feel like doing. If you look good you will feel good no matter how long labor is.
Sick and tired of these negative nancys. If you will not care to do it why comment like you are better than someone else.
I'm sure you all will look incredibly beautiful and happy with your newborn -with or without makeup.
<3 <3 <3
Haha I'm one of those! I got a manicure and pedicure yesterday in preparation and freshly cut hair! :) makes me feel good!!!
My sister had her bits waxed and a spray tan done at the salon and got her hair done before labour lol .. many places to a "mum to be" package with bikini wax tan massage/facial etc... I've even known girls to get their toe nails done!
I will sort bikini area and maybe tan but makeup can wait till after lol
I dont wear make up ever so no and I will be getting braids so my hair won't get nappy lol
Labor isn't all sweaty and messy for everyone... get a grip ladies lol. When you look good you feel good! I had my hair and makeup done (light blush and concealer and mascara with a bit of eyeshadow) and I didn't break a sweat. All 1.5 hours of my labor lol! Time you're contractions and you should be fine; especially if your water hasn't broken yet. I actually thought I was going to go into labor last night (my contractions started circulating through my back to the front of my abdomen,) so I showered late and blow dried my hair! Still no baby :p but ain't nothing wrong with looking good and being prepared!
I've been wearing make up since i was 14 I'm now 26 so yes make up on hair done lol
Hmm no.. I will not worry about this either, having that said -I will not allow any pictures taken of me while in labor.. or straight afterwards.
Some moments (like me huffing and puffing to push out a humanbeeing) does not need to be photographed.
Who will see these pictures anyway?
and why?
Photograph the baby by all means, but I feel like my face does not need to be in the pictures.
Once I had a chance to freshen up and put some make up on -and feel/look more like myself, I would happily be in some pictures.. but it's not happening prior to that. :)
But everyone is different :) and I can certianly understand the need to look good.
I do hope you will still be able to let that go and focus on birthing your baby.. this day -if any, we should be able to let go of our concerns of how we look.. :)
It's labor... not a pageant. I'm not worried about looking good for the camera. It's sweaty, painful, and hard. I just want to be as comfortable as possible, not worrying about what my makeup or hair looks like.
I dont want 2 look like total crap ina bunch of pics that everyone will c ..forever...but ill c how it goes.hopefully ill feel up 2 making my self up..at least a little bit...Buut I admit I feel silly for planning on putting make up on to give birth lol..girls will be girlz
I truly believe when you look better you feel better!
I will apply some makeup too I dont plan on looking like a clown but I dont want to look like an au natural hound dog either!
