being 2cm for 3 weeks?

How long can you safely be dilated for?? I know with my last son I was 2cm for 2 weeks give or take a couple days but it's it safe to be 2cm or more for 6 weeks? When should they induce you? Can I request to be induced

It is fine to be dilated indefinitely unless your water is broken. Many moms who have more than 1 baby can be dilated a few cms for months or weeks. This is why some OBs don't check your cervix until you are in or think you are in labor or if you are overdue and need an induction. That being said I wouldn't ask for an induction until I was over 40 weeks and drs should not induce without a medical reason before 39 weeks at the earliest. (L&D RN)
