My sister had it, she said there was not really any pain. They numb your arm to remove it and i don't think there is many side effects have you had a look at the nhs website?
They give you a numbing needle first so you don't feel it get inserted or removed. It can feel a bit strange or uncomfy for a few days while the scar hurts but nothing major. I've had 4. You do end up with a small scar on inside of your arm. Side effects are different for everyone. I have had none for all four. Some people get moody, have longer periods, have no periods, or get headaches. Hope this helps.
Ok...thank you very much ladies. Am just so scared.

I had horrible problems with the Implanon arm implant. They numb you up so it doesn't hurt much, and is just a little sore afterwards. However, my menstrual bleeding was erratic, and I gained 28 pounds in 7 months WHILE exercising 3 X a week and dieting (wedding preparation). My sister also had major issues with the implanon, but didn't have the extreme weight gain.
