whooping cough vaccine for friends and family?

Will any of you require your friends or family to get the whooping cough vaccine before seeing your baby? Why or why not?

My husband and I won't be getting it and wont require anyone else to. We of course don't want our daughter sick, but exposure is almost impossible not to happen unless you keep your baby in a box away from everybody . We are not against all vaccines but our daughter will not have a lot of the "required/ standard vaccines" and definitely not 5 or 6 before even leaving the hospital . Thus is just my personal opinion but 85% of vaccines are unnecessary and not safe for everyone. I have a medical and pharmaceutical professional background, I'm just don't some weird hippi lol. Just please do your research ladies :)

I asked my mom, dad, sister and brother-in-law to consider it and they all said yes immediately.  I think you should research the disease so you can explain it to them.  The number of cases have increased quite a bit, and can be fatal to your baby. Obviously you can't make someone get it but you can ask nicely and leave it up to them.

I have also really been thinking about it since at my last visit my dr. said that he was going to be giving me one at my next appointment.  I think I am really leaning towards asking my mom & my husband to get one just to be on the safe side. I guess really why not it won't hurt the person getting the shot & I would rather not take the chance that if my baby does get a cold or something he won't end up getting whopping cough.  Now I am only going to ask my mom & husband because they will be the only other 2 people that would be holding my baby & have the most contact with him.
