healthy pregnacy with low hgc levels?

I'm 5 weeks pregnant. I went to see my Dr yesterday, and she ordered a blood sample. She called me today and said my hgc levels were at 280 and on the low side. I've had some very light cramping, but no blood. Should I prepare myself for a possible miscarriage, or am I just working myself up?

I'm currently 34 weeks and I had bleeding and slight cramping at the beginning of the pregnancy. We took my levels and they were low and increased VERY slowly. Don't give up, there is still a lot of hope.

Levels should be rising every 48hours. With some women they double with some they rise slower and not necessarily double but definitely go up. Doctors expect them to double. Levels are different for different women. Most doctors at this point schedule an ultrasound to see if there is a gestational sac but all of them test your levels within 48 hours.

My first pregnancy, my levels were very low. I had a perfectly healthy baby girl. Don't freak out yet, it's still earlier, and numbers vary from each person

They should do your booodwork again in 2 days.  You want it to double within 72 hers.  I have seen a lot of #'s start low, and end up in a perfectly normal pregnancy.  Hang in there.  Don't give up yet!!

Your levels are small, but you could also have a late ovulation. So your baby could be a little smaller than expected, even 10 days off the normal ovulation day(i was 5 days off). Light cramping is very normal all first trimester, nothing to worry about.
Ask you doctor to get a new sample 48 hours after the first one to check progress. Numbers should double up if everything is ok.
