I had a prescription for Ranitidine (prescription version of zantac 150) and it said to take it twice a day! I took it first thing in the morning then again before bed.

My Dr just put me on protonix because nothing else seemed to get rid of my heartburn. I take it morning and night and have been heartburn free since the 2nd day. Try tums for flare ups until you can talk to your Dr about possibly switching to something stronger
