If your vacuming buy a cat flea collar and cut it into pieces. Put a piece if your vacumn bag or canister. This will kill any live fleas you may vacumn up.

There are a number of natural flea treatments that are safe for people and animals. Borate powder or pytrethin (i hope i spelled that right) are good for carpets. I have been battling this issue myself. I moved into a place that had fleas and my 2 cats,1 dog have been suffering. I can't bomb because I have downstairs neighbors... so frequently cleaning the carpets is good. Also thw pyrethin can be used directly on the animals too

Salting your carpet over night can kill fleas and wouldn't harm your baby but it might take a few times to get all the fleas. You salt it and sweep it up in the morning. It dehydrates the fleas. Good luck!  You might also talk to your vet and see if they can recommend a safe pesticide method.
