They have you swab the outer edge of your vagina and the pass it over the outside of your rectum here no insertion tho.

I live in North Carolina and I've always had it done the same way my sister had it done the same way with all 4 of her pregnancies. It seems strange so many women on here has had the strep b swab done vaginally and I wonder why they do it in the anus here. Here we are told to use alcohol wipes real good around anus and insert tip of swab and it's strictly done in the anus absolutely no vaginal swab for strep b. You would think all doctors would have the same process for the strep b test.

With My First In North Dakota It Was Only A Vaginal Test. Nothing IN Back Door. Now My Second Child My Dr Said Will Test Next Week At 37 Week Appointment And AgainShe Said It Is A Swab Around Vagina So Nothing Around Anus. This Is In Utah.

Here the tip of swab is to be inserted into anus and surprisingly you don't even feel it. It's just awkward doing it yourself.

Both of my previous pregnancies I was sent to bathroom with a swab and told to insert it in my butt. I asked my doctor because I go for 34 week appt Friday and she said that is still the way it's done. I think maybe different doctors do it differently or depends on the state or whatever.

Ya they don't swab your butt. It's more like a pap smear. It's for strep b testing but it's a vaccinal swab.

They do it everywhere in the US as far as I know you just may not be aware of it. The are looking for Group B strep which can cause issues if you are positive and the baby is delivered vaginally

It's not inserted into the anus. It wasn't uncomfortable at all.
