I was just told the same at my 37 week apt. In Canada the monitor the baby 48 hours after birth for temperature change to insure they haven't contracted anything. This is after getting the antibiotics during labour. From there the chances of picking anything up go down significantly every day and at three months the little ones are usually in the clear and repirt cases of infants with group B strep are unheard of. I know its scary, I am tight there with you, but it will be okay.

I was very worried ab it as well bc I did not know what it wss with my first pregnancy and doc didn't fully explain about it. So I went reading and red all this scary stuff and freaked myself out :( plz. Don't do that.  Lol it's not a terrible thing.  Honestly very simple during labor you will have iv antibiotic this way when baby comes through birth canal it won't contact it. It's a small chance to v start with but this way no worries.  If you read up on it just remember it sounds terrible what it can do to baby but very small and I mean very small chance to start with but your midwife I'd correct iv meds np baby is fine :) don't sweat it hun ik a lot of people that have had it did the iv med and baby was just fine ;) don't stress that's not good for your little one ;)

it is extremely common. You will be on an IV during labor anyway, so that is easier than taking a course of oral anti-bioics
