Soda while pregnant

with my first pregnancy,I only ate healthy foods and drank nothing but juice and hot tea.  Now that I'm pregnant with my son,I can't get enough of fast food and soda!before pregnancy I wasn't a big soda drinker so idk what's going on. Anyways, does anyone know how horrible it is to drink soda while pregnant?

Black, green and white teas should be perfectly fine to drink. You only need to be careful of certain herbal teas, but my doctor has said that every kind I drink is okay.

The worse thing about soda isn't even the caffeine but also the amount of sugar and all the bad stuff. Limit to having it only with one meal and try ro drink a lot of water. Also, tea isn't that great while pregnant because of some herbs it contains.... not saying baby won't be healthy but u don't want your baby lacking any nutrition.

Exactly if you have to have soda for a craving pick one that is non caffinated. I love 7 up and drink that often. Im on my due date now and have only gained 9 pounds. And i drink way to much 7 up. But i try to avoid caffiene more for the babies sake. I would say feed your craving just not every day especially if its caffeine you need. When craving it try to drink a glass of water its suppose to help with cravings and ice cold water makes your metabolism work more. So good luck

Im not a big pepsi drinker and I crave it a lot but to me it has a very strong taste so I try to avoid it but sometimes I just have to have it.same goes for Mountain Dew and it doesn't help that my bf work at Pepsi so he brings home soda every day

I know for me i just have to increase my water if i drink soda or coffee or else i will get leg cramps in the middle of the night. I crave Dr. Pepper which is strange because i never drank it before pregnancy. Lol! The littlest ones make their presence known!

You should ideally not have more than 200mg of caffeine daily. So just check that. Most sodas don't have more than 40mg. Also a lot of soda don't have any caffeine in at all.
I drink coke daily. My sister in-law drank a lot of coke daily through out her pregnancy last year, and my niece is perfectly fine.

The studies that show caffeine may cause miscarriages or birth defects involved giving mice caffeine that was the equivalent of about 10 lattes at once. Unless you're drinking that much soda a day you'll be okay. Just be careful cuz caffeine is a diuretic which can dehydrate you, so just make sure you're drinking water too.

I drInk it in moderation (only now and then) because I feel so guilty drinking it. My sister drank coffee throughout her whole pregnancy since she worked overnights at a hospital and her baby was healthy.

When I drink a soda with caffeine,i double my water intake and make sure to drink plenty of orange juice as well or cranberry juice but my bf scares me when he says our baby could come out with some type of medical issue from me having a soda every couple of days

You can have about the same amount as a can of soda every day. Just don't overdo it. If you have any questions you can ask your dr.

Just make sure you watching the amount of caffeine your are having. Try to go caffeine free or limit your caffeine intake. Good luck.
