If they become regular and consistent before you are full term, they will give you a shot to stop the contractions so that labor won't start and you won't begin dialating. If they are truly just BH, you can normally stop them yourself by laying down (preferably on your left side). You can also take a warm, NOT hot, bath.
Oh so your BH actually turned into labor pains?
Not everyone gets them...but i got mine at almost 8 months with my first pregnancy. Went to the hospital got a shot to stop them. And now 11 years later I'm pregnant with baby number 2. I'm 20wks, haven't gotten them yet.
Now i know it's pretty normal to feel how i feel sometimes with these BH .. and know to switch positions if I'm uncomfortable.. Thank yall again
Thank u same to all of you! Congrats and have a healthy and blessed pregnancy and delivery... This is why i really like this forum ..i was very nervous now i feel better about my situation
You are welcome @ricoswifeX30s! Wishing you all the best with the rest of your pregnancy.
Hope the BH do not continue to cause you too much discomfort.
Omg thank u all for your feed back I'm very grateful... Good to know I'm not the only one :)
They are meant to prepare your body for laborost women begin having them as early as 16 weeks and just don't feel them. I'm sorry yours are so painful they can be different for every pregnancy I had almost none I could feel with my second son and with my first one omg! I went to the hospital once because I didn't know what they were lol.
I've been experiencing mine since around 20 weeks, now im approaching 27 weeks. Would have to admit at times they have gotten pretty uncomfortable and freaked me out to begin with! But kinda expect them now :0)
My Braxton Hicks began at around 16 weeks (no joke!!). Mine are quite painful! I am 35 weeks and 2 days and they are definitely stronger, I get several a day. If you are sitting, get up and walk when they occur and if you are standing up or walking, sit down when to occur. It helps you realize the difference in common Braxton Hicks and actual contractions. If your doing to much of either moving around and or sitting then they tend become more constant and that will worry you to death!
I've been getting bh since about 25 weeks. Asked my dr about them he said everyone is different. Currently almost 28 weeks also and if I walk a lot it will set them off. I've even had them in my back also. Blah
