Cats while pregnant

My husband came home with a kitten for our daughters but I remember my doctor telling me when I was pregnant with my 1st that the pee of the cat in the litter is harmful and can lead to miscarriage(6yrs ago). I personally don't want the cat now because I don't want anything hurting the baby but now my daugthers are so in love with their new Rosie(the cat's name). Is it really that harmful? Any of you ladies cat lovers and pregnancy went fine? I'm kinda freaking out now

Thank you ladies! I got upset at my hubby at first but my girls fell in love with her so I couldn't deny her :). I'll make sure I'll let me doctor know as well.

I ran a cat rescue with my first baby.  We had 28 cats at the time. We had an electric litter box so I never touched it.  They always took turns sleeping on my belly.  My own personal cat that just passed this year slept in bed with her, she layed across her feet it was veryccute.

I have a cat and I'm the only one to change his box but I just cover my mouth and nose n just dump the whole thing in one quick motion.. I haven't had any issues at all.. it's a bacteria from their feces I guess but you can get the same thing from potting soil. It's not overly common according to my Dr. Let Rosie stay

These ladies are right. As long as he is changing the let and taking care of any accidents you will be fine. Also make sure he is the one to do any grooming, like  cutting her nails because feeders can get caught in her claws. You will be fine

Just don't clean it the liter box or put it in a area where u are alot. And let ur dr. Know u have a cat now they might test u for toxemia (spelling). I know they tested me at my first appt Cuz i told them i had a cat.

It's the feces. You just have to have him do the litter box duties and you're fine. :)
