Nothing specifically causes a miscarriage.   And preventing one is impossible.

I've had 3 miscarriages. The first 2 never even made it to 9 weeks. My 3rd was between 22-24 weeks. He was there at my 22 week appt and gone at my 24 week appt and was pregnant with twins. Since my daughter was still doing well I carried him for another month until I delivered at 27 weeks. We didn't do an autopsy for him since he had been gone so long.

I have miscarried three times, they say it's common, especially in the first trimester..reasons are genetic abnormalities or the baby doesn't develop correctly. Your body can reject some pregnancies if your baby isn't healthy enough too, from what I hear. It's heartbreaking but a part of life we have to deal with unfortunately. If some one has more then two miscarriages it would be a good idea to get blood work done to find out why it keeps happening. I am waiting on my blood work to come back. My husband and I do not have chromosomes/genetic problems so I am waiting to see if I have a blood clotting disorder. Some women may have a blood clotting disorder that would cause miscarriages in the first trimester due to the baby not getting enough blood flow. So the doctor would put them on a blood thinner during pregnancy. Hopefully I get some answers soon and have a healthy pregnancy in the near future.
Best wishes to all you ladies! Baby dust and wishes for a healthy baby!

My son was stillborn at 20 weeks, that was caused by Parvovirus  (slapcheek) it's a virus that passes through you in 48 hours and doesnt cause any harm for adults for children and you can only get it once but it is fatal in unborn babies before 20 weeks and can cause birth defects in babies if caught after 20 weeks. It's like chicken pox in that once you have it you can't get it again because you build an immunity to it.

I had one at the end of october. I went in for my 10 week ultrasound and the baby only measured 9 weeks 1 day. They said there just wasn't a heartbeat. Sometimes it just happens. It was forming correctly but the heartbeat just stopped I guess. my body wouldn't recognize the misscarriage so I had to have a D&C done. I had to tell myself a million times a day it just happens, and there wasn't anything I did wrong or could have done differently. Now I'm 16 weeks pregnant and every day I tell myself it will be ok, I just pray to accept whatever happens.
