I actually don't have a thyroid because I had thyroid cancer in 2011 and the completely removed my thyroid. I'd recommend that you see I thyroid specialist instead of your own family doctor or your ob. Mine has been so perfect because of my doctor and all you have to take I'd a little pill every morning. It hasn't caused any other issues with me. My husband and I got pregnant within the first 2 weeks of trying and I've had an amazing pregnancy so far with my little baby boy coming in April and healthy as can be!
Very interesting information! Thank you for the replies you guys are great! Your right when you read into this stuff too much it makes you sick!
I have hypothyroid and hashimotos which is autoimmune version of thyroid disease and had it long before pregnancy and hypothyroidism is very common in pregnancy. Basically my mfm specialist explained it to me liek this. The hcg hormone and the thyroid hormone are both very similar in make up with the exception of one tiny protient molecule so its easy to get your body confused and as hcg rises your tsh falls because your body thinks it is making enough already. It will most likely resolve after birth and you will go back to normal but just keep an eye on your levels and you and baby will be fine!
Even if it continues after your levels will stabilise. Just keep up with the thyroxine and you will feel just normal. I think with theses things the more you read into it all the worse you feel.
Oops I mean constipation lol. I wish I had a good movement here and there hahaha tmi sorry
Thanks tillymonkey. It's weird because this is my second pregnancy. My first born is perfectly normal and very bright. So going through a second pregnancy now I feel confident that as long as I take care of myself the baby will be fine. I'm 20 weeks along now and the symptoms I've had are chronic diarrhea lol, hip pain, hair loss, forgetfulness and fatigue. The funny thing is... These are all symptoms of pregnancy anyway! Haha go figure. I'm not going to stress over it. Thanks for the reply!
I had a diagnosis way before becoming pregnant. They will monitor your levels and may need to increase or decrease dosages. My levels have remained stable throughout. If your hypo has come on as a result of pregnancy it may improve after baby. Mine will stay. TBH I've only experienced more fatigue. Please do not obsess and read up too much. It's not super serious and is quite common as a condition.
