i want to scream!!!!!!

So i finally saw the dr. She called in a rx for prenatals tuesday. I went to walmart then stopped by pharmacy. Tech says they have to order, asks for my medicaid card to put in system. Says be ready 9am next day. 11:00 i come in and no meds. Says come back next day. I get text that its ready. I go in. Different tech asks for my medicaid to put it in. First one never did. Then find out medicaid doesnt cover it. I call dr office from car. On hold 15 mins. Finally girl tells me medicaid doesnt cover prenatal vitamins AT ALL!!!!!!   I judt got fired for being pregnant and have no money and now they want me to pay out of pocket. Are they ******* crazy??????? So mad and upset i started throwing up everywhere!!! Whats the point of giving medicaid for pregnancy if you dont cover anything????!!!!!????!!?

I live in ny and Medicaid covers mine. I had some that were only $1 and then they didn't cover that one anymore so I was switched to another one that's $3. But I would definitely call them because they are not cheap...good luck.

Try going to the website of a brand you want. A lot of times they will have coupons you can print out to make them more affordable.  I'm not sure about scripts but the otc ones will have coupons.

I've had two different prenatal scripts this pregnancy and Medicaid does cover them. I would also check around at different pharmacies as well. I know that's sometimes the issue with normal insurances. If you dont use "XYZ pharmacy" (as an example)for this specific script, we dont cover it. It may be the specific prenatal that the doctor prescribed, or it could be the pharmacy... Definitely worth checking into. I dont see why Medicaid would not cover prenatal vitamins AT ALL because that's a reason many have to rely on medicaid because there aren't other options. I know it's stressful mama, but try your best to stay calm and things will get worked out. Deep breaths and take it one step at a time.

How the heck do you get fired for being pregnant? That's sounds like discrimination.

Medicaid covers prenatals giant eagle has free prenatals and I'd be more concerned about getting fired because your pregnant... They can't do that! Its a law suit I've went threw that ****. So not only would I b calling the office for ur prenatals I'd also be calling for a lawyer!!

Medicaid does cover prenatal pills and always has. Maybe ur doctor needs to call in a different kind of prenatal in order for them to pay. This is my 3rd pregnancy and I've never had to pay for pills. They have always been free! Good luck

Some pharmacies offer free prenatals. My local pharmacy has free ones I had to get before my insurance kicked in. Call different pharmacies and ask. Then have ur dr write a rx for that one

I went my entire pregnancy with my son eating gummy prenatal vitamins and I NEVER had a problem. Don't stress about that. Just think how do woman from other countries go there entire pregnancy with no over the counter $100 prenatal vitamins? It can/has been done. I will do it again with this pregnancy. Ps. the gummy`s taste great!!!!

I have the "department of health and hospitals" medicaid card. Then the put me on the "united healthcare" community plan and gave me that card too.

Yes I wanted to mention that. I have the united healthcare Medicaid plan, if that matters. But I think all the plans pay for prenatals because I had another plan at first.

Do you have pregnancy medicaid? Did you pick out a certain type of insurance?  Medicaid has different providers that differ between state and county.

Medicaid does cover prenatal pills. I've had 3 different types since this pregnancy & had to pay $3 for each. Sorry for your troubles, hope you get things sorted out.
