if im put on bedrest then can i get on disabilty from work?

I'm currently 27 wks along. I'm high risk pregnancy due to having my son at 25 wks yrs ago with a placental abruption. I had to have an emergency caesarian and will also have to have another caesarian with my daughter. My Dr was noticing my cervix was shortening and at my last appt it looked as tho my baby is not growing as big as he would like. Not sure until my next appt once they measure her again but if I do get put on bed rest and cannot continue working is it possible to get disability. I have no idea how I'm going to afford not working till I have my baby and the recovery time afterwards...

Yes you can. I actually went out 3 weeks before my FMLA date due to stress. All you need is to have your doctor write you a note stating you need to be dismissed from work due to a medical condition. You don't need to tell your insurance the specifics, leave that up to your doctor if your insurance has questions. You can claim STD for your "medical condition" until your official FMLA date.at that point your STD for your "medical condition" will switch over to STD for your scheduled maternity leave.

You can also ask your HR at your job.

Oops wasn't done posting. Lol I'm a dental assistant but my boss doesn't offer insurance since she's only open part time. I guess I should look into that with my insurance then. Thanks, I wasn't sure exactly where to start :)

You will have to check with your insurance company because i know open enrollment doesnt start until later in the fall atleast where i work. If your insurance covers short term disability im pretty sure yes. Also check with your management because at my work place when i put in my maternity leave it will give me the option to choose short term disability even though i didnt sign up for it. Also if you have any vacation/sick time use that for bedrest FMLA covers up to 3months of leave but doesnt pay you only guarantees your job will be there for you when you return.
