I'm due this Friday but if baby doesn't come, Dr. Wants to scheduled me for the 21st to get induced.  I'm scared and some sources say it increases chance for c section but dr. Says that's not true. Idk :(.
What's induction like? Any completions?

What!!! That's crazy.
I would allow myself to be induced if you go that much over your due date.. it is safer, but you'll most likely go into labour naturally before that.

I'm being induced tomorrow.. but that's because I have GD.

Wow, sorry you dealing with that! I just went through that. At 38+2 days I went in for a routine non stress test and docs noticed baby heartbeat dropping with minor contractions. So they induced. 12 hours each time on pitocin for 2 days, then the balloon omg that was painful. At day 3 only 5cm dilated. Docs were annoyed and threatned c-section. But luckily I had a doula that told me I have 24 hours from when they break my water to get the baby out. The docs agreed since baby heartbeat was strong. So I lessened the epi so I could change positions. 5 hours later, I dilated to 10cm and after 5 long contractions, 40 minutes, I pushed her out. I was lucky I didn't have a c-section. Afterwards several docs and nurses apologized for pushing the c-section thing and they were glad I waited it out. My thing was I had no clue what to do and the longer I was in labor, the c-section was sounding better and better. I probably would have went for it because I value docs opinions, however they said because I was fat that there would be complications. So that made my decision even more of a nightmare. so I'm glad I waited and trusted myself. It was very scary time and glad it's over.

There is a higher chance of issues the more overdue you go. There is a possibility for all of us to have a c section or to go home baby less or die. Its there. I went over my due date a vaginal delivered a 11 pound baby. That's dangerous. I had a great induction. And loved it. It was planned I didn't have to be afraid of having a baby in the car ect I got the epidural and didn't feel my entire labor I was relaxed. I enjoyed it.

Your Dr is crazy!  Can you switch?! I'm so sorry she's scaring you like this. No, your placenta doesn't automatically break down at 40 weeks - it's a rare complication. Yes inductions are a risk for C section,  because your baby hasn't signaled that they're ready yet :( for many medical reasons it's fine,  but it seems like this is for your Dr's convenience not your safety.  If baby is kicking normal, and you feel good it is always best to go into labor naturally! Again I'm so sorry. I wish you the best of luck!

I was 11 days late and I was induced. Kept losing baby's heart beat and I had to be wheeled to OR on hands and knees since it took pressure off the cord. Had a c-section. It's different with everyone. I'm sure everything will be fine in the end!

I was induced with my first child. Started at 9:30am & my daughter was born at 2am.

I'm healthy, my baby is healthy. .. dr. Is just making feel like if I don't do it, baby will die! But I'm thinking I won't be 42 weeks, I should be fine. But started saying the umbilical cord will decrease passing nutrients and oxygen to my baby and feel like she is trying to scare me. She said either induced or u might go home with no baby :(

At 39w2d the Dr said I was near preeclamptic and was only a fingertip dilated so they wanted to induce me. They did the cervidil and I failed to progress so I needed a csection. As long as your body responds to the induction then you should be fine.

I just have induction on friday because of gd. I was 2cm dilated when i arrived to the hospital. They started on pitosin at 6am and my son was born at 7:59pm i had two previous natural deliveries, with my induction the contractions were so hard i could not do it without epidural so i went for it. Compared to the labor pain the epidural does not hurt. I keep just thinking after the needle in my back the pain will stop. My water broke by itself when i was 4.5cm I can said it was better then i thought but i prepared myself in case it has to be a c section i repeat to my self that will be over soon and i will have my baby with me. I did not have an option so it hat is your case just keep praying and be strong. 14 hours of induction was ok my second baby was vaginal free of drugs and i was more than 24 hours in labor

The one time I was endured it didn't work!  They put me on petocin for over 12 hours but nothing going happened.  The doc gave me an option to break my water, which meant a point of no return.  Meaning if I didn't start laboring it would end up a c-section or go home and wait a week.  We went home.  And what do u know, the morning of my second eduction my water broke on its own.  I ended up having a c-section on that day anyway due to complications, oh well. :(

My experience with being induced was horrible. I was a few days past and my doctor scheduled it. I didn't feel like I had an option. Anyways I was in labor for 20 hours and pushed for 2. My doctor convinced me to get an epidural and said it would speed things up. I would not recommend being induced unless it's medically necessary for you or the baby. My doctor also told me that if she had been the doctor on call I would have had a c-section. My niece also had a c-section after being induced for 2 days.

I was induced with my first born. The contractions intensify faster than if you were to go into labor on your own. Each woman's experience is different. Some women have faster deliveries while some still have long labor. They will break your water for you once you have reached a certain point of dialation. I was lucky enough to only be in full blown labor for 5 hours. I didn't have any complications other than my nurse blew 2 of my veins trying to get the iv in to start the pitocin. Best of luck!
