With my first they started the potocin at 830 am, broke my water at 12pm, epidural at 2 pm, he was born at 6:05 pm, not even 10 hours of labor.

Hoping this one to go all natural

I don't want to scare you but, I was in labor almost 2 days by the time my little girl arrived. I was 4 days late and thought my water finally broke 2 days before. Went in to see my dr. And I was only 1cm. She stripped my membrane, painful!, and then sent me home. Didn't have contractions til later that night. My huband didn't take me to the hospital until 3am the next day. By then I was already tired and angry that the hospital wouldn't accept me until I was 3cm. That took forever. I wanted a natural birth but could not handle the pain after pitosin was induced. I had already been laboring for 36hrs by then. So I got an epidural which let me take a 2hr nap so my husband and I could rest. He was a total zombie by then. Not to mention the fact that I hadn't eaten for almost 2 days. I was starving. After 2 hours of pushing, which seemed like nothing by then, my beautiful  girl was born. My advice, eat and get tons of sleep if you can. You never know what might happen.  Good luck!  And congratulations.

With all 3 of my births I started proticin as soon as I got there. They also broke my water to help start contractions. I was never in labor for more then a day :) and I also had epi.s done but around 3 cm witheach one. Its not that bad and you will do great I bet :)

You're only 1 cm so really they might use either cervadil or prostaglandin gel. Probably prostaglandin gels, seeing as you're going in the morning, or strait to Pitocin like shastas said. I was 1 cm last week when they had me go in at 7:30 for prostaglandin. After 3 doses I wasn't progressing so they let me go home on bed rest to see what happens. Not much happened, here I am almost a full week later and still not in labor!

I was also induced with my first. That time I went in at 9 pm and spent 12 hours laying in bed with cervadil. I got one dose of prostaglandin in the morning before the contractions were continuous so they had to back off. I did not get an epidural and I delivered vaginally at 7:09 pm that night.

I've never had Pitocin so I can't say what it's like. But remember that the more interventions you use (including the epidural) the higher your chances got a c-section become.

Since you're already dilated, they won't use the vaginal gel to prime the cervix. Most inductions now are done with an iv medicine like pitocin. It's a synthetic hormone that causes contractions. When I was induced they also broke my water since that causes contractions. That way you may need less pitocin. I'll warn you though, pitocin contractions are stronger than a typical contraction to me. Good luck!
