Convertible seat lasts a LOT longer. Instead of buying a second seat after 6-8 months you can get one seat that'll last for years. I love my Evenflo Symphony 65 - my son is still comfortably and safely rear-facing and well within height and weight limits, and he's 3 1/2. RF to 40lbs, FF to 65lbs and FF booster to 105lbs... I'll never have to buy him another seat.
Lots of people like the infant seats because the base stays securely latched in the car and you can carry the seat around. But it's really not a great idea. Frequent unlatching and latching the seat into the base weakens the fastener. The habits of placing a car seat on top of a restaurant high chair or worse, a shopping cart are really incredibly dangerous but happen all the time because those seats are huge and you've gotta put them somewhere - many people have no idea how unsafe it is but those latches aren't made to do that and a seat makes whatever it's sitting on super top-heavy and prone to tipping. Babywearing with a sling, wrap, or soft structured carrier is much comfier for you and baby and more ergonomically sound as well.
Good luck finding something that works for you!
Im using a Britax travel system. The b-safe infant car seat clicks right into a base in your car, and also easily clicks straight into the b-agile stroller. I really like this system because its so fuss-free and simple. The stroller closes with one click and a pull.
Infant for the begining for sure ! but at about 8-10 months old when they learn to sit in high chairs , cart etc the convertible is awesome because you wont have to buy another seat after that!
Omg and yes that too lol plus our dbl stroller we got can hold the infant car seat :-)
Infant seat for as long as it's portable. Then convertible rear facing.
We are using an in infant graco click connect until she out grows it like we did with first baby then using our front facing car seat. Toddler is going to be upgraded to a larger car seat in several months. I do like the convertible carx seats idc if you only have to buy one I don't like them.
Infant car sear .. so much better ..
if bby falls asleep in car just lift seat out! :)
Infant, because some convertibles you can't take out and snap then into the stroller so you'll be stuck carting the baby everywhere you go.
I am going to use a graco infant car seat until the baby is about 3 mknths old then I am going to use the graco mysize 70 convertible car seat.
