insurance (or lack of)

Ok. So I'm really worried.  I just found out I was pregnant last week and thought I would just be able to get pregnancy medicaid like I did with my last pregnancy. But, my husband is now working so we may not qualify this time. We have insurance but they don't cover prenatal care. I am going to go
See about medicaid tomorrow but am very nervous that they will deny me! What do I do????

Hey hey!
I had pregnancy Medicaid while my husband was working. Just so long as your husband isnt making like big bucks you should be fine!

Thankfully I am going to qualify for medicaid! Since I'm a teacher and haven't collected a paycheck this summer!  Very fortunate, not sure how I would have made ends meet if I had to go the private pay route. Thank you everyone who commented.

I personally dont find our healthcare unfair, except that its insurance and the game they play that actually raises all our costs.  I dont find it fair that we have to pay for everyone elses health care costs though, and still our own.  Even if its "free" healthcare, someone else is paying for it!

We dont have insurance, its all self pay.  You should be able to set up payments through the hospital, or your midwife or doctor.  For mine the doctor will bill as a total package at the end.  Its 3600 for all my appointments, and the birth.  Then there is a seperate bill for lab fees and ultrasounds.  Then the hospital where Im birthing at will bill us seperatly.  We were actually able to work out a deal with them where we payed in advance, which cut our bill by more then half.  I don't do any unessecary testing, and only had one ultrasound to keep down costs.  I also called around different places for the ultrasound and was able to get it done for half the price as I would have where I would have been sent through my doctor.  We will get a 10% discount on our doctor bill and lab fees if we pay in full right away, or we will set up payments tgrough them if we cant.  They do a year with no intrest or anything, then you can work out a loan through a bank the hospital works with.  I believe they also have financial aid options and sliding scales for uninsured, but we still make too much for that.

Just pick a doctor or hospital and call and see what they do for self pay.

If you are denied, you can go through the health department for routine care. Then when you deliver they can get you financial aid for the hospital.

I would see about planned parenthood. I know my ex sil had ins from my brothers work but like yours did not cover prenatal and she was able to get ins from the state just for the prenatal care
