I just started maternity leave and ill be induced on aprol 17th. I have insurance through work that before I got I called and asked if my pregnancy would be considered a preexisting condition or not for both coverage and short term disability.  Thy said it wouldn't be and they woukd cover both. Theyve been covering dr appointments but now that I've applied for short term disability they are saying its not gonna be covered bevause I was pregnant before I could get my work insurance.  If I had waited to see a dr til I was able to recieve the work insurance then I would be covered but because I didnt wait to see a dr cause I would have been almost 6 months they wont cover it. So now instead of some pay check now we wont be gettig any and I am the main wage earner so I am freaking out we are gonna be bad situation.

I only get a week of vaca time a year and I dont get it til my anniversary so that is out. And my family really cant help im just hoping something works out cause I'm freaking out a little. I am going to trynto appeal because thats not what I was told when I got the work insurance but until then just praying and doing research on help

They should have explained it better. I believe that's how it all works with disability, you can't go to the Dr for that issue for 6 mo. I don't even have disability I'm glad I checked on it before we tried cuz I assumed every business had it! So then I had to get aflac which you have to have 10 months before birth. So we had to wait an extra month. I guess its up to you how much time you want to take off. I know it ***** if you can't have the full 6-8 weeks. Do you happen to have any vacation or sick time? Do you have family that could help you out til you went back (you could slowly pay them back.)

Awww man that *****.  That is so unfair. I would ask to speak to a manager and let them know you were told different.  I dont know if that would do anything but maybe....

That's so silly. I hate insurance sometimes. To bad u don't have a recording of ur 1st conversation where u were told u would be covered. Sorry ur going through that. Things have a way of working themselves out.
