Anatomy Scan at 17+6. Is this too early?

Hey ladies! I have my anatomy scan this Thursday & will be just one day shy of 18 weeks.
Is this too early? I thought they did it at around 20 weeks. Being that it is sooner, is there a chance that they may miss something? I just want to make sure that everything can be seen.

Opinions please! Thank you all

I Will be 32 weeks friday and am not having my anatomy scan done till Tuesday. I haven't seen my baby for any mesurments since my 12 week apt.  I had a sneek peek to see gender done by a clinic that does it for that reason only so i know its a boy but I'm afraid they waited to late and something could be wrong tbat they can't see bc he's too big now.

My midwife told me just today the time frame for an anatomy scan is 18-22 weeks. One day short wouldn't make any difference. I'll be almost 22 weeks til I'm able to get mine done just because of schedules.

that just may be the case!! I would just ask them to make sure, but I'm almost certain they have good reason.. as stated before though, if they don't get everything, they'll have you come back.

my OB has her own office, but it's a little place.. she delivers at the hospital about 10 min. away from her. the hospital is nice, but I just can't figure out why in the world she doesn't get a new ultrasound machine for her office?!!!! lol

I'll add you as a friend so I can keep up with you though! (((:

Yea Ive been feeling weird things since the last week or so down there, I'm pretty sure its baby :) & thanks! I wouldn't be surprised if this baby comes a lil later. I cant wait! I'm at the hospital where I was born at in Boston, it's a rlly good one. I'm thinking maybe thats why they are able to do the anatomy scans earlier?

thank you!!! we honestly thought we were having a girl, but we're so thankful that he's so healthy, happy, and active!!! I felt & watched him KICK for the first time a couple of nights ago! (((:

congrats on your Halloween baby!! I'm due Oct. 24th, but I'm thinking he'll be here before then.. just a feeling! lol I was supposed to have an OB appointment last thursday too, but we were running behind.. so I've got one this thursday at 18w6d - just getting another ultrasound & blood work done I think. keep us updated though.. praying we get our anatomy scan done asap too! my OB has old equipment though, so that's why she's sending us to the hospital to have it done some time around 20 weeks.. hopefully I'll find out all of this thursday!!! lol

@happysnaps yea what you said is mainly what Im concerned about. I want them to be able to see everything. What if I go in on Thursday & (God forbid) a soft marker pops up after my scan. Im gonna look into that.

@octobermommy congrats on your little boy. I think this one will be a boy too. I'm going to go in Thursday b.c. I have an ob app after my scan, so I'll mention it then. & yessss I am due on Halloween haha. I'm so excited!

@brit besides the gender, were they able to get all the info they needed? An anatomy scan is so much more than finding out the gender. Or did you have to go back in again?

same here @brit333! he was definitely all boy, very easy to see!! lol you should definitely be able to see the gender, but hopefully they get see all they need to see during the anatomy scan.. if not, they'll have you come back in a couple of weeks I'm sure. ((:

we just found out the gender at 17w6d this past thursday.. it's a BOY!! (((:
I pointed it out before the ultrasound tech. could! lol - it was an elective scan though.. and it was worth the $!

my OB said they would send me to the hospital around or right after 20 weeks, but no sooner.. I would just ask my OB about it?

our son is pretty developed obviously, but a few more weeks would definitely help as far as seeing everything as well as they should be able to. I'd politely ask them to push it back a couple more weeks at least? good luck! I'm 18w4d now & anxious for that scan!

Id probably reschedule closer to 20 weeks as theyre more developed and the markers they use for babys development are for between 18 and 20 weeks. But if you dont have to pay for the scans then have tbe earlier one then go back for a second if need be

If I find out the gender of the baby it'll def be a plus, I just want to make sure they don't miss anything. Hopefully they will have me come in again if they need to take more pictures. Thanks :)

Does anyone know if that's the last ultrasound?

And if they don't see everything they want to see...they will schedule u for another one... At 22 weeks they couldn't see her heart like they wanted so I had to go back at 25 weeks

Depends I had mines at 22 weeks..but I got a 3d ultrasound at 16 weeks...I think they should be able to be pretty sure if its a girl or boy at this time
