12 week appointment..can't find baby's heartbeat

I know that I am probably just freaking myself out...and my midwife said not to worry, but she was unable to find baby's heartbeat. She did say my uterus is tilted and is right behind my pelvic bone right now so the Doppler probably couldn't get the heartbeat. I go back in a week to try again. Has anyone else had this kind of experience? I feel so emotional over this. I don't want to worry excessively but can't help it!

If you're using a Doppler, for sure it's hard to hear the heartbeat when it's that early. My midwife couldn't find mine, and my friend who was with me commented that my uterus sounded like the open prairie (after that I couldn't stop laughing so we gave up). When I went for my ultrasound/dating scan I saw the baby and the heartbeat, and everything was fine. Don't worry about it. When baby moves up from behind the pelvis you'll be able to find it.

Yes... my doctor was unable to find the babies heartbeat at 12 weeks... she said that it was because they usually arent able to hear it until 13 weeks with the doppler but they figured they would try...she saw the sheer panic in my face and ordered an ultrasound to ease my mind.

My uterus is tilted too and the heart beat was hard to find as well.  I'd probably go to ER too cause I wouldn't be able to wait.  I know everything is fine but I'd still worry.

Thank you, everyone. It's always nice to know you aren't the only one.  wishing Wednesday would hurry up and get here already! This waiting is driving me crazy. Part of me is definitely tempted to go to the ER and make something up!!

Youll be fine. They said the same thing to me when I was about that and she told me to schedule an ultrasound right away and I saw her and heartbeat was great. My cervix is also tilted. Probably why.

I had this happen with my son (my uterus tilts as well) and they sent me in for an ultrasound immediately.  I found out that I was only 8 weeks not 12. Your date may be off some.

I cant understand why midwives ir docs dint immediately give u an ultrasound for reassuring. I sorry to hear this but I did have a time finding my lil ones heart beat once but my doc pulled out an ultrasound machine right then & there. If I were u I would go to the er they will give u an ultrasound for sure! I dont know what you will tell them perhaps you are not feeling well or whatever it takes you'll leave feeling so much better I do think ur ok though .goof luck to you.

That is always scary. But it is hard that early. At my 12 week appointment it took 3 nurses and 4 different machines to find it. The kept pushing it into me to try and get closer. They were going to do ultrasound but tried one more time and got it.

Make an apt to pregnant crisis they will give you a free ultrasound and pics they won't do anything other than that! You never have to do anything you don't want :-) I think I have seen this on a baby story once
