losing weight post-partum

is it true that the more you gain during your (first) pregnancy, the less likely you are to get back to your slim, pre-pregnancy figure?

and is it true that if you don't shed your excess weight within a certain time after baby's born (like 3 months, or 6 months), you'll eventually find it harder and harder to get back into shape at all?

this is what I've heard. any thoughts and experiences ladies?

I gained 25 lbs with my first pregnancy, I breastfed my lil girl and lost 33lbs in 3 weeks. Breastfeeding burns 1000 calories a day, of course everybody is different so just stay hydrated eat right and do plenty of walking. Good luck!

It seems from all the comments that, everyone is different. Breastfeed can not hurt your chances of losing weight, but eating healthy and exercising is always the best way to lose extra weight. Just make sure you are taking in enough calories to stay healthy.

With my first pregnancy I gained 26 pounds, overall. But truthfully I gained 36 pounds in the last 4 months, due to severe morning sickness / weight loss in the first 5 months. I  was in such a rush to lose the weight I was incredibly unhealthy. Looking back at pictures of myself during that time I wish I would have taken care of myself better. Please just be careful and stay healthy,  the weight will come off if you work consistently and EAT healthy :)

Everyone is different.  I gained 35 lbs for my first. I did lose most of it. But after so long it gets harder. This one I haven't gained much which is fine. I don't want to gain to much. And I'm about to go in my 3rd trimester.

Breastfeeding actually does help as it burns 500 calories a day! It has been proven so look it up. You are not doomed if you gained a lot of weight, it is science and the more calories you burn than take in you will shed the weight. You have to stick to it and not cheat. Do not expect results if you're not putting in the effort.

I never lost any of my baby weight,  I gained 40 lbs and kept it on. I got pregnant at the weight at which I had my first and I've gained 20 lbs so far I'm 31 weeks. I'm not happy about my weight, I'm hoping I can keep my determination to lose this weight after birth too.  I constantly think about it, and the plans I have to loose the weight but we'll see things are always better said than done. I hope you loose the weight! :) ♡ it's deff been a struggle for me.

Breastfeeding DOESN'T melt it off...I too gained 50# with first pregnancy & lost 20 right away. The other 30# cane off when lo was about 15 months. It was when my hormones leveled back to normal. Exercise, diet, & consulting with your doctor is the best way to shed the weight!  ;)   Good Luck momma!

ahhh ... I see!

the thing is, I'm only 5"1 and already at 67kg (38 weeks). if I touch 70 by the time baby comes, how will I ever be 50kg again?  *sigh*

With my first son, I gained 52 lbs. By the time he was 3 weeks, I lost 45 lbs. The rest of the weight came off over 6 months. I only breast fed. After this birth, I'm breast-feeding again and getting back to my regular exercise. Don't "eat for two", eat healthy portions of food, drink water, and exercise. The weight will come off.

ive heard diff. My friends who have kids say breast feeding melts it right off . And if youre usually active you can get it off fairly well

My doctor said that all the weight you put past week 20 is shed off after birth cause it's due to baby gaining weight. However, pounds before week 20 that is you gaining weight and those won't leave you unless you do something, diet, work out etc

I gained 50 lbs with my first.. :( then after she was born I lost 20 lbs right away.  That 30 lbs stayed around for a whole yr. But I finally kicked my butt in gear and worked out harder and ate healthier and the weight started melting off! So needless to say if you work hard it will come off!
