melatonin?

I just wanted your thoughts and experiences with melatonin. Has anyone been given the OK to take it? Or told not to? I figured since it was a natural hormone that it would be safe. Still waiting to hear back from my doctor.  Just trying to find ways to help me sleep better.  I'm 21 weeks. Thank you in advance.

Melatonin is perfectly safe to take during pregnancy... #1 reason why it's safe is because melatonin is a natural chemical that our bodies release anyway. I'M sure once u hear back from ur Dr they will tell u the same. I took it during my last pregnancy because I had insomnia and my baby is perfectly healthy.  I wouldn't recommend u taking any PM meds until u talk with ur Dr.  Good luck

I don't see how Tylenol or unisom is any more safe than melatonin. We produce it anyway. It's natural. I've heard other people say they have taken it and you get immune to it. But if it will help right now I'm willing to try it. I guess I need to talk to my doctor. I just don't understand how one doctor can OK something but others are against it. It baffles me. Thanks for all your input ladies!!!!

Mine told me not to use melatonin because there wasn't enough research either way. (Safe or not safe) I have been taking unisom or tylenol pm because heaven knows I need the pain relief right now.
