My crib is the same way I just pulled the bumper outside of the back of the crib and brought it around to the other side it worked for me. I'm not worried about the sids thing because I have a bassinet that the baby will be sleeping in in my room I just basically have the crib for looks and for later on.
No bumper needed for a while! Like 4 months. (It's fun to go buy stuff after the baby is born, so don't worry about having everything.) It's nice that he washed everything and is trying to help.
Yes, it is the mesh breathable one not built for this crib though insert grumpy Mom face. Think I set it up as best as it can be. Baby won't be in the crib for a while anyway, we have bassinet set up in our room and will keep him close by until he's sleeping through the night.
I'm going to try to breathable bumper. Its a meshy type material, I guess you can say. Haven't had experience with it yet though.
I've used bumpers with all of my children and have never had an issue. I take them down when the baby is old enough to roll over and sleep on his tummy. Basically mine is used for decoration.
Even though you wanted to do it yourself to finish up before baby gets here, it was thoughtful of your husband to do it so you didn't have to.
Bumpers should not be used unless they are mesh.
You may be able to return without receipt. Some stores will accept it back...not sure about no packaging...if not, sell on a used site. As for bumper situation you don't need one and it is true they are not considered SIDS safe. They only ones I think would be OK are mesh.
Bumpers are not considered SIDS safe. It is not recommended to use them at all. All you should have in the crib is a very firm mattress (we got a double sided one that is softer for the toddler years) and a fitted sheet.
