mommys with colored eyes

So my bf has green eyes. I however have brown eyes. I know Brown is a dominant color, but what are the chances of my son coming with his eyes..? Is it like a 50/50? So curious to know

My hubby has green eyes and dark brown hair, I have bluish grey eyes and blonde hair, really curious what our little boy will have. My eyes also change color depending on my mood, they're my own personal mood ring, if I'm happy they are bright blue, normal is a bluish grey, sad they get greyer. Just weird, I can feel them turn colors, like my eye gets warmer if I'm happy. I'm hoping our little boy has his dark hair, with my eye color, but I'm thinking he'll be brown hair brown eyes.

Most people with green eyes, actually have the dominant trait of brown eyes.  Green is not a true genetic color it is a mutation.  That's why most people with green eyes have brown spots in their iris. However, it depends on if that trait is heterogeneous or homogeneous which would affect what color is seen. So it could go either way, just depends.

I want to add that I have red hair with my green eyes, hubby has dark brown hair with brown eyes, and our daughter was born with red hat, but it quickly changed to a very blonde with her blue eyes... Her face looks like mine in my baby pictures, but that's about it. Makes me wonder what this baby will end up looking like!

My husband has hazel eyes and I have brown-we both have brown hair-and we have 4 kids-with our 1st I watched a thing on discovery channel called Inside The Womb-when it mentioned the part of how your baby gets the eye color it said that there are actually 7 different factors that play a role in deciding the eye color-it's not just by looking at the parents eye color---our 1st daughter ended up with green eyes-our 2nd daughter has light brown-our 3rd-boy has dark dark brown eyes and our 4th-boy has light brown eyes--the only annoying thing about the 2hr documentary was that it doesn't tell you what those 7 factors are--and your baby's eye color will change with the first 1yr-they say after about 8 months whatever your baby's eye color is is pretty much gonna stay-our 1st baby had blue green but by the time she was a year most of the blue came out and she had just green eyes-

Yah, it's really a little more complicated than what they teach you in basic biology with the whole square thing. I have green eyes and hubby has brown. Our daughter is only just over one, but her eyes are still blue. We have some hazelish eyes on my side (no blue), but his neice has blue eyes... It's really weird. Genetics are all over the place when it comes to passing down traits from two different families, but then some people end up with little mini-mes.

I know science, genes, etc. all play a part in things.. but I think the good Lord is responsible for my blue eyes! lol - my daddy is like 75% cherokee/native american, and my mama has it in her too.. just not quite as much.

anyways, there's nothing but brown eyes on my daddy's side of the family, and yes they are considered dominant.. BUT I got my mama's blue eyes. my baby brother on the other hand got the brown eyes.

needless to say, my daddy's side of the family is super jealous haha! lol ((:

It depends on how the  genes are. EE Ee we. Dominant doesn't mean the it over.powers the recessive trait.

No its not 50/50 unfortunately lol that's just not how genetics work. My husband has green eyes mil has blue everyone else has brown. Brown is dominant and green and blue are recessive traits  also those colors are just mutations of brown. There's a very slim chance baby will have acting but brown butv there's a  chance :-)

I remember from science class the chart with 4 quadrants..BB Bb Bb bb. In order for your baby to get green it has to have bb. So 25% since brown is dominant. It also depends on your parents and your grandparents. My husband has blue and I have brown but my dad has blue and my mom brown which means I probably got the Bb trait and my husband has bb trait. So it'd be for my kids Bb bb Bb bb so 50%. I have one boy with brown and one with blue.

I hope that this post makes sense lol
