dilation

This is my second pregnancy. Friday I found out I am already dilated to 2 cm but cervix is still thick so that doesn't mean anything. I could go into labor soon or i could still go until my due date. My problem is that with my first pregnancy I couldnt feel the contractions or my son coming out at all. I felt nothing. I had had back surgery a year prior to that so that may be why. So i may not notice if i do start to have contractions. I am feeling a lot of pressure and feeling very uncomfortable while walking. Have any of you dilated early (I'm due in a little over 3 weeks) and if so how long did it take for you to go into active labor? How dilated were you when you finally got to that stage? I guess I'm just hoping I won't have to suffer too long. My husband doesn't seem to undersrand how much pain I'm in and my son is too young to care lol. Plus I'm working a full time job as a massage therapist and nail tech so I'm feeling pretty miserable.

Midwife said she would discuss with doctor about inducing me at 39 weeks but she wasn't sure the doctor would agree to it just based on that.

With my first i was dilated 2cm for two weeks and never did go into active labor. My doctor ended up inducing me and even then they hard time getting contractions to start and stay steady. Have you talked to your doctor about your concerns with not feeling labor? He won't induce you this early but he maybe able to induce you in a a week or two if you're not progressing on your own.
