Dr. did not want to check me

Hi all. I had my last appointment on Monday, 37 weeks and 5 days. I have had this crazy flu for over a week and a half now, Im feeling weak and even lost half kg since last week. For some reason my Dr decided that she didnt want to check for dilation or even feel my belly. She said if she did i could go into labor?? So she only listened to the baby's heartbeat and did a swab for the strep b thing.

The reason why I wanted her to check me is because i havent been checked AT ALL so far and my last ultrasound was at 32 weeks and the baby was breech. I asked her if we would do another one but she said not unless we have any concern about the baby. So basically I dont know if the baby is in the right position now, if im dilated... i mean I dont know anything!

I turned 38 weeks today, she said she would check me on Monday so I am hoping I dont go into labor until then!

My question is... does it really hurt when you get checked? Even sex with my husband hurts a bit at this stage... and is it true that it might make me go into labor? Should I ask her to wait until my due date?

FTM and so confused!

I would take this as a good sign of everything is well. Most gyno don't check you unless you are high risk or maybe having early contraction otherwise wait until you go into labor.

FteyjaCasper. I just wanna make sure everything is ok. Make sure the baby is head down and there wont be unexpected surprises later on... im even scared of her putting her hand inside but I need to know!

I feel you girl. Thats exactly where I am. Just hoping she will tell me something in our next appointment. Now i even feel some "itching" or "tingling" in my vagina. I think im starting to dialate! My due date is the 10th but Im still working and soooo exhausted already... but the flu is much better so im hoping she will check me next time. It doesnt have to be inside but at least an ultrasound or something! I havent seen my baby for 6 weeks now...

Every time they check you it also puts you at risk for an infection. So avoid it at all cost. Even wearing gloves they can spread something into your cervix. I was only checked once before I was at the hospital and in labor with my daughter

seems wise what she's saying to me too. I was checked quite early and afterwards thought it wasn't that smart to do it. it didn't hurt though. and yeah...after that when I asked her about baby's position she replied "head down I think"...so maybe you wouldn't even get this answered

I guess we'll just need to wait! Everytime I go for Ob appointment im so excited and hoping she will give me some news and then nothing...

They say there is full moon on the 6th and that will get many of us going! My due date is the 10th anyways and I know Im being selfish cuz its best for the baby to stay in as long as possible but...

I am in the same boat as you. I haven't had any issues like that, but I have def had severe carpel tunnel. However, I do get anxious worrying if I will go into labor on my own since I haven't had any contractions that I know of

I should be thankful, i have had a perfect pregnancy. No morning sickness, no pains, no discomfort, no contractions, no braxton hicks... nothing until now. I Guess thats why I am starting to get anxious, cuz I feel nothing is happening!

My doc started checking me at 35 w 4d Caz the way my appointments fell. I have been checked twice and it does Caz some discomfort. I have a doc appointment today and have been feeling very sick since yesterday so I am refusing my exam today. I am 37+3. I just don't wanna have any irrigation in there BC I don't want to go into labor at this point. Although its unlikely I don't wanna take the chance. Some Ppl say the exams don't bother them others do. It doesn't hurt me getting the exam but I was sore after and I too have some discomfort during sex.

My midwife didn't check me until I was in labor with my first. It can start labor and no reason to rush it until baby is ready. I agree with her, waiting until you're not sick seems like a wise decision. You're so close, baby will be here soon! Just work on resting up, you'll need all of your energy soon. :)

I commented about having a flu because my Dr based her decision of not checking me on her impression that I wouldnt be able to handle labor in my condition, fever, blocked nose, dizziness... u know
