normal? any feedback be nice!

I'm 33 weeks, I had a really really bad abscess tooth. And it had over Christmas and weekend so couldn't get into dentist. For a week I was in extreme pain. I didn't sleep or eat for four days bcuz it was so bad with no relief, I started on amoxicillin from my obgyn, it got worse 3 days later, emergency room put me on penicillin double the dose, 3 days later back in the hospital bcuz it was only getting worse, at this point my whole face was swelled up, and under my tongue and my gums. They finally hooked me up to iv gave me clyndimiacin and they gave me Vicodin. Which ur not suppose to be on either when pregnant.. but the infection, not eating and not sleeping was just as dangerous for baby. And I swear I couldn't deal with the pain anymore so I had to take it. Anyways now I'm worried cuz I'm still on the antibiotic. But don't know if its that or if its just cuz I'm getting further in my pregnancy! When I take a step I get this lil cramp in my vajaja, and often if I'm up doing stuff like cleaning or cooking, I get this lil cramp in the bottom of the right side of my neck, and get really hot and light headed an have to sit. My eyes always burn like they need to be shut.

I'm 33 weeks, and my next appt is Tuesday. They said with this antibiotic, it was class c and to use cautiously during pregnancy.. it can cause abdominal cramping, and to just make sure I eat with it. And to keep track of babys movements, but like I said the first two they gave me didn't even touch it. I haven't got much cramping and I'm eating a lil more now. I'm just worried bout going into like early labor or something bcuz of it. But I can't stop taking it, I can't go back to the pain. I'm not taking the Vicodin anymore, its still sensitive and sore, but tylenol actually helps now. And baby girl is still very active, I feel her all day long. I'm sure its all just signs of moving further in pregnancy but just wanted to see what others said. Thanks for responding :)

Hi there.  Sounds like a terrible experience with that tooth hon.  Sorry that happened!!  Glad they got it under control.  It actually can be quite dangerous to YOU for that to happen because our teeth aren't far from our brain and infection from an abscessed tooth that goes to the brain can be deadly.

Anyway, I don't know how far along you are.  You went through something traumatic on the body but I'm sure your doctor is monitoring you.  It's normal to have pain in the vagina and pelvic area as our pregnancy progresses so it could be completely normal.  Antibiotics do not harm a fetus as I'm sure they were careful about what they gave you being in a pregnancy category of drugs that are okay.

If you have any concerns though, please give your doctor a call.  They can even just talk to you over the phone.  when is your next prenatal appointment?
