Im am having a vbac in dec with my baby. I had a cesarean 3 years ago in November. My doctor does vbscs all the time and prefers to over repeat cesarean unless it's necessary. I get to carry to 41 weeks if I do not go into labor on my own I will have a cesarean. She will not induce bc pitocin has a chance of uterine rupture as does vbsc so she will not combine them. And her only time restraint is if you've made no progress in 5 or so hours then she'll start to think about csection one on active labor. Bc at that point you should be making progress in under 5 hours at time lol usually up to a cm an hr. My advice find a good doctor with a good hospital and try! :-)

Do your research my doctor is goin to try but even if your doctor says they are vbac friendly they do a lot of thing to sabatage the vag birth look up vbac sabatage  on Google for your best chance also stay at home as long as you can that way if they limit your birth time you have a greater chance my first doctor pusses for c sections all the time and I did not know at the time so I ende up with the cesarean write out your birth plan before you go that way it is not so hard to say what you exscpect

I'm srressing over the same thing. My first pregnancy was 13 years ago! Yeah it's been a long time and it was an emergency c-section and they put me to sleep so I feel like I missed out on a special experience of giving birth. This time my doctor said I could have a VBAC and it looks good so far but i'm just really scared it won't happen and I really have my heart set on trying

I think you should talk to your doctor. Mine didn't say I couldn't but based on my previous labor, reason for emergency csection, baby size and overall circumstance she told me most vbac have a 30% success rate, with me I would decrease because my canal is not big enough for a baby unless I have a smaller one then 6 lb 6 Oz.  I was bummed but loved that she was honest. She was like it your body you do what you feel is right for you.

There are very few reasons why you couldn't try. If your doctor says no, that is generally not evidence based practice and you could look for a better one. The problem is that hospitals have protocol like how long you're 'allowed' to labour for or push for before they change to a C sec. It means your baby must run to their schedule not it's own. A 36 hour labour is theoretically completely within normal ranges yet at hospital this is just called 'failure to progress' and often just ends in c sec. A VBAC is run on even tighter protocol so your chances of a successful vbac, while theoretically very good, are not as high once you are in the hospital... basically I'm saying it's likely your body can do it, but whether it does it in the hospital's required time frame is a different story... up to you if you want to try! I think you should!

Every doctor and pregnancy is different! I have had 6 cesarean deliveries and expecting my 7th in October!! I actually was given a chance to try twice!! My first in 2004 (I was 18) was an emergency cesarean, she was stressed. (She passed away 8 months after but nothing to do with the birth). I tried giving birth via vaginal again in 2007 but I didn't dilate :/. And once more in 2008 but he was stressed after hours of no labor progression. Sad, broke my heart!!! I went on to have a cesarean in 2010, 2011 and 2013. 6 in total. I have a very strong uterus, and secretly tried to give birth again with my son in 2008 at home but I could no longer handle things. Lol!! But it's a possibility especially since you only have had one cesarean delivery and it was years ago. Talk to your doctor, some doctors will not risk trying vaginal after a cesarean. Your health and baby's condition will have a huge impact on the discussion. Best of wishes!!!!

I was told that they will not let you have one because your uterus can possibly tear at the incision from the last baby and you would have to have a hysterectomy if it does... I had a c-section too im do march 21st 9 years ago march 24th I had one

Talk to your doctor about vbac. Your doctor will let you know if you are a candidate for vaginal birth.
