overweight

Went to the doc's yesterday and she said i was overweight. Before being pregnant i weighed 112 now im 150 i gained 37 pounds. Im past the average by 15 pounds. She said I will have a hard time during labor because im making a big baby, also I wont be able to have natural birth because baby's to big and will get c section and labor is harder for overweight mothers. Also said Im prone to give my baby gestational diabetes and get high blood pressure, and mentioned pregnancy fat is hard to lose after. I want to have a natural birth. How and what can i do to lose this excess weight. :( I feel so bad now. I ate too much.

My first pregnancy i was 105 before and 160-165 when i delivered. I have had 3 pregnancies before this one and have gained 60+ pounds everytime. I have never had gestational diabetes, I've had all vaginal births with absolutely no complications and I've always lost most of the weight (except this time i got pregnant right away). I can't believe that your dr would let you worry like that.  I'm sure that you will be just fine. Some people just gain more than others no matter what you do.

Im sry but what a ***** and dumb doctor. You don't need a csection just bc you gained 37 lbs and that doesn't mean baby will be huge. I gained 48lbs with my first and he was 8.6.  My doctor never told me anything like that or threatened me with a cesarean that's just stupid. Id be finding a new bloody doctor if I was you. And I did not have preeclampsia or gd. Whatever you do don't let them talk you into a cesarean. My mil gained 50 lbs with my husband he was 7.10 and born natural. Again no gd or preeclampsia. Good luck dear.

Oh! And my other sister gained very little weight during both of her pregnancies and both were almost 9 pounds. So weight gain does not always determine baby size

I am considered obese. I am 5'6 and weigh 275 now. I have gained four pounds so far and I am almost 27 weeks. I have great blood pressure and passed my glucose test with flying colors.  My baby is measuring five days bigger than her due date. My doctor is happy with my weight gain and I plan on having a natural vaginal birth which my doctor is aware of and supports. Find a new doctor or make your wishes known to your current one. Do not let them force you into delivering in a way that is unnecessary (unless serious complications arise). My sister was not over weight before pregnancy but gained over seventy pounds with her daughter. Her baby was just over seven pounds. She did not have any complications with birth and lost all the weight plus ten pounds within a year and a half.

I was overweight with my first and now this one. I never had high blood pressure or diabetes with my first and my blood pressure has always been normal with this one and I'm doing the glucose test this week. My fist was vaginal and she was only 6 lbs 3.2 oz. As far as losing the weight because I breast fed my first I lost all the weight and then some.

That's a lie and not nice at all. Maybe you should look into getting a different Dr. My first I was 103 pre pregnancy when I delivered I was 165 I had a lil 6lb 7 oz baby and no high blood pressure nor diabetes. My second I was 120 pre pregnancy and was 185 when I delivered again no problems and had a 7lb 14oz baby. That time was very hard to lose the weight I had no time for exercise and didn't watch what I ate. This pregnancy which is my last I was 180 pre pregnancy and I am 26 weeks I have gained a total of 20 lbs NO high blood pressure nor diabetes my Dr says I should have a vaginal delivery as well with no complications. Only think she says is make sure you're walking and eating healthy for the baby. Not once has she put me down nor made me feel bad. Everybody is different just know it's possible to still give birth naturally good luck!

With my first I was 199 gained 37 pounds by 37 weeks 5 days and my baby was tiny she weighed 5 lbs 12 Oz and even family and friends said I was having a gigantic baby I looked so big like I was having twins big.  My grandma heard some one comment how big they think my baby will be and she said just because she big doesn't mean it's all baby  I would think it's mostly all water she will have a normal size baby. Everyone kept thinking 8-10 lbs.

I was 98lbs when I got pregnant with my first son. I gained 98lbs during pregnancy and ended up with gestational diabetes. My son was 7lbs 4oz. Perfectly healthy. The weight poured off in about 5 months without exercise. My average weight is 118lbs and has been that for about 6 years now. Im 16 weeks pregnant now weighing 131lbs. Every pregnancy is different and your body reacts differently. Try and get a second opinion..

I am already overweight and my doc wants me to gain 16 pounds my whole pregnancy bwcause that is what I gained my last pregnancy. I was 255 and delivered a healthy 8 lb 3 oz baby vaginal. I didnt have high blood pressure or diabetes.  I think its time for you to find a new doctor.  You have to be comfortable with the person who is going to deliver you and not feel chastised or embarrassed when tou see them.

Your doc sounds a little mean and cray cray! It doesn't mean you will have a big baby if you're overweight! If you have gd  then yes you could possibly have a big baby but even if your baby is big that doesn't mean you can't deliver vaginally! There is a Facebook page called birth without fear and it has been so positive and uplifting and dispels some of the common myths about csection and stuff. I mean sometimes you do have to have a csection for medical reasons but it shouldn't be the 1st thing they jump to!

Ok she's mean!!! But with my first I was 125 and delivered at 180 and he was big 8 lbs 4 oz but I had him natural,  no medical tools needed, no ripping or tearing. Good luck mama.  I would schedule to have a ultrasound to measure baby before electing c section. Those are I think 80% correct

I gained a lot and I don't pig out.
It's not your fault your body is hungry.
I stopped eating red meat I have a lil chicken twice a week.
I made the choice to only drink water and milk, cranberry juice only when I feel heartburn because of the taste that comes up.

Yeah swimming is one of the best for pregnancy. Don't worry too much. That's not really that bad. And losing the baby weight will be a challenge but not impossible. I lost all my extra weight (60lbs gained during pregnany) pretty quickly. It's harder and harder with following pregnancies. If you work out after you will lose it.

I gained close to 60 lbs and my Dr never said anything like that to me. Sounds like your doctor isn't very nice. You should still be able to deliver vaginally. I wouldn't worry too much. How far along are you so far?

It's good to try to be healthy, but extra weight does not mean extra big baby. My mom gained 60 lbs with me, and I was a 7 lb baby.

I was 227 and 240 when I had my 2 kids. I had a natural labor and they were 7lbs 2oz and 7lbs 6oz respectively. Your doctor is wrong.

Eat small and often. Don't starve yourself and your baby. (Not to say that you would or even try...But it can happen when you can't think of anything healthy you want to eat and you're craving junk food..you just decide it's better to just skip eating all together instead of eating bad) Eat some fruit, veggies as snacks. Lean beef, chicken, turkey, and white fish with veggies and whole grains. Try to stay away from sugar and artificial sweeteners. These can be addictive, and added to much of the fast foods that are out there which makes it harder to resist. If doctor thinks that your baby is already big try eating simple proteins like beans at lunch instead of meat at lunch and dinner. Just passing on what my nutritionist told me to help with my eating habits. I actually don't eat enough, and when I do, it's not the most healthy foods. Then I start to feel bad that I'm not eating right so I'll skip meals so I don't eat wrong thing.

You need a new doctor. You can still have a natural birth. Your baby is probably very average and your weight gain isn't extreme. I actually gained an extreme amount with my first and didn't have diabetes or high blood pressure or anything. It's up to your body to give birth. Back in the old days they didn't have inductions or weight limits or c sections because of fear. If your doctor can't handle a little challenge that's her problem.she shouldn't be making you feel bad for gaining weight. Besides if you're worried about the weight loss afterwards all you need to do is exercise and breastfeed<- it brings off weight like crazy. Don't let them talk you into anything you don't want.
