Thanks for the suggestions ladies :)
I failed my first one and passed my 2 hr one. I heard that eating asparagus really helps maintain sugar levels. Also limit sugar consumption.. sweets, fruit, fruit juices, etc. I also heard walking after each meal helps as well.
And also adding some mold exercise in as much as you can will help.
I failed my one hour and and was diagnosed as glucose intolerant. Basically your body isn't producing enough insulin to cover the increase in blood sugar that happens during pregnancy. Staying away from junk food is important (an occasional small cheat won't hurt and can help stave off really cheating). Lots of veggies and protiens- lean meats, cheese, eggs. You should be careful with fruit because that raises your blood sugar also. Limit pasta, rice and potatoes. Switch to whole wheat versions when you do have them. Limit fruit juices as well and of course soda. It's tough, I'm struggling get with it myself. But anything to keep my baby healthy. Take it easy mama
Thank you! Good luck to you too hawond!
I'm asking more for suggestions as far as foods and things that help lower levels. I'm not wanting to "cheat" since I would just like a healthier reading next time and obviosly throughout the ENTIRE pregnancy. Would like to know from others who have not passed what you can do to avoid it getting out of control. I was a lot healthier and active my first pregnancy so I'm slightly worried this time around about what this could mean in the long run.
I am at the doctor now doing the 3 hours test mines was over 4 point and i am praying i pass i am 25 weeks and would hate to have it ...good luck i feel your pain
The first time I also wanted to pass and cheated and drank lots of water Inbetween blood draws on the 3hr and passed. With my second baby I did a little research and found untreated diabetes can be damaging to the baby and even lead to fetal death and actually took the test correctly, failed of course, and underwent the treatment for diabetes. It wasn't fun but I knew my baby was healthy AND sticking to the healthy diet kept my weight gain down a lot from the end of my first pregnancy
